A recent study published in the journal Science found that a more wavy and elongated jet stream in the summer "has made weather more persistent and hence favored the occurrence of prolonged heat extremes".
Fishermen and fishing boats may have new routes open to them due to a less icy Arctic, the report acknowledges. But at the same time, the composition and distribution of species could change with warming waters
The melting of ice on land in the Arctic - whether from glaciers and ice caps in the Arctic or the Greenland ice sheet - contributes to sea level rise that does not stay in the Arctic, but rather spreads around the world. Greenland is of course the biggest potential contributor, since, if it were to melt entirely, it would cause six metres of sea-level rise.
Finally, changes in the Arctic are expected to amplify global warming itself. The principal way this could happen is through the thawing of frozen ground or permafrost, which covers much of the Arctic, and which contains huge stores of frozen carbon.

Climate goes through cycles this is only a natural cycle overtime the ice will return and retract ect ect. But I guess, its fun being wide eyed alarmed and checking both sides of your computer chair.

You sound angry.
Chill out, mate. Science is fun. It's not sports, you don't need to slash out at the rest of ATS.

I must say, i find it absolutely baffling how anyone can deny that the arctic and antarctic ice and glaciers all over the world are melting fast and dissapearing for good.
You guys don't so muich deny ignorance as embrace it with both arms
Fact is that because YOU dont agree with it (for whetever reason), you listen to the tiny handful of people/scientists who claim that its not happening rather than the vast majority who all agree that the ice is melting and the earth is warm
Antarctic sea ice at its highest level since 1988, report in 'climate depot' earlier this year, and the Antarctic is now going into winter mode, so I presume as its colder down there, the sea ice will melt?

The Earth is off balance. The Sun is too far North. This of course would cause the arctic to melt even faster. All of these second sun videos shouldn't be ignored. Something is approaching this planet.
