Police are handing out tickets in one New Hampshire town that you want to get.

Inspired by how well the people in their town have navigated a tough winter, police in Farmington decided it was time to hand out some rewards. Officers are patrolling the streets and issuing citations for free pizza and french fries.

The tickets will be handed out through the end of March, but police said if it goes well, they will consider doing it again in the future.

With tight budgets, this is an interesting move. A nice PR move though, considering the rough winter the east has had, and it's not over yet in the Maritime provinces either. There's another storm coming tomorrow for them.

So they're doing nothing wrong and they still get accosted by the cops?

God I f# hate this country. Keep the pizza and stay the hell away from me. I don't need "gold stars" for being an obedient peasant. How contemptuous.

And I'm sure the police are taking advantage of this to glean whatever information they can from the slaves they "ticket". Of course, the media only shows the positive reactions from the retards who don't get it. What happens the first time one of these people runs away?

And did he pull someone over for using a turn signal when they were supposed to?

So would you rather they be out shooting and harassing people?

How does living a life where you always look for reasons to complain work out for you? Many friends? Happy?

So just insult the "cop hater", huh? With nothing substantial to add to the discussion, you just make negative insinuations about the messenger in order to derail the message.

That didn't take long at all.

What message?

All I read was a post that completely disregarded any good cops do and instead fabricated possible scenarios to further the hate.

If your 'message' is that all cops are bad, well I feel sorry for you.. 'cop hater'

How does that even work anyway? You just absolutely hate any and all cops because they are cops? No bearing on who they are as people or citizens?

Naw, it's been done in other places especially small towns where the cops are also integrated into the community. It's usually accompanied by a radio and TV publicity campaign to cheer up the citizenry. Not every place is a horrible place to live.

Did you even read my post? Perhaps the part about how law enforcement views us with contempt? Maybe the part about raising the issue of an unlawful traffic stop?

No?

Anyway, data gathering is not a "fabricated possible scenario". They're trained to record as much information as they can in every encounter with the public.

If it can be used, it will be used. I guarantee it.

Maybe you can enlighten us on how exactly it is law enforcement's job to give out pats on the back. Or how the need for PR work evidences severe public mistrust (which you may think is totally unwarranted)? Enlighten us on something, other than just attacking me for calling a turd a turd.

I can see WHY they're trying this. Especially if they've been getting bad publicity of late. (Anyone know if this town has? I say good on them.) Our town USED to do an Easter Egg Roll at Easter Time, and in the summer do a backpack give away, with refurbished bike give away. They would take photos of your child, with a DNA hair strand to add to the kit for you to keep, that way of course, if anything happened, you had an updated photo of your kid. I still have my daughter's photo and hair from that day. I think she was around 9, it was quite some time ago. She had fun, they hire a local band, have kids games, etc... A local hot dog stand comes out and stands around for parents to get suckered into buying soda, hot dog, or cotton candy.

Then our town became corrupted, it used to be just pot. No big deal. Then it was harder drugs once they built the prison. They started shipping prisoners from Riker's to Marcy prison, so the families and the gangs moved into town to be closer to them. It got bad. Some of the cops were so bad the whole police force was investigated by the FBI. I only wish I was kidding. I'm just glad I got out of town when I did. It used to be, if they caught you out late at night, as a kid, they'd put you in their car and drive you home for a talking to. Nope, not anymore. You were immediately arrested, social services got involved, the whole nine. Our town had a small town feel, but that went away when they built the prison. Ja Rule was transferred to our prison. Boy was that a bit of excitement for some people. I just thought it funny myself.

I think that's why I like small towns. For a small amount of time, cops are still nice, most anyway. They're not the jerks most big city cops can be. The town I'm in now has 4000 people in it roughly. I've only seen 7 cop cars total, and have run into 4 cops, both times was because of a death in the building. One was a heart attack, the other was a OD. And they were all very polite and kind.

Actually the restaurant donated the gift cards to the program.

I was going to comment about how long it would take for both that comment and the "it's just PR cops suck and they hate us all" comments to start, but I see I'm already late

That's actually very nice of the restaurant. It's good PR for them as well. It helps to get their name out into the community and will hopefully bring more business to them. Very smart move actually.

Yes I read your post... how else would I have been able to accuracy label you as a 'cop hater' if I hadn't?

Why is it you believe your hatred for any and all cops is noble?

If I stated that I hated all white people or all black people I would rightfully be labeled a racist...

So how is hating all cops any different?

Hate is hate, it's not noble, it's not productive.

I will be the first to admit, there ARE some good cops out there. Such as my ex's cousin the sheriff deputy in WV. But, just as there are good, there are bad as well. My dad told me the other day my adoptive brother is a prison guard in FL. Now, not too sure on that one. If he's changed his life around, fine. He claims he's found religion, and he's a good guy, so we'll see. But in the past, he beat his mother, my stepmother up something fierce, often! Broke her wrist even! He pushed his pregnant 15yr old girlfriend down the stairs, not trying to kill the baby, but was just ticked at her. When the baby was born and they split up, he kidnapped the baby, and my dad helped him hide from the authorities until he got a lawyer. He made sure he got custody for 7 months out of the year and she got 5 to "one up" his ex-girlfriend. He's a jerk, who has now found God, so I don't know if his "jerkatude" is hiding and will resurface later, or is gone for good. But he could still be a jerk, just at work with prisoners. I honestly don't know if he's one of THOSE kind of guards. I hope he's not, but I fear he is. I know his history.
