In this thread, a lot of people are discussing the possibility of medical research as well as dog fighting.

(BTW, some of the breeds are Pit Bull, Labrador, and Great Dane.)

According to foreign cultures dogs can be eaten. Maybe that's what happened to them.

Someone taking that many dogs, while possible, isn't very
likely. I mean come on people dogs bark as someone already
pointed out. I can't see someone taking so many dogs and not
being seen at least once. In fact it's perposterous. This is limited
locally and must be happening swiftly.

It's an owl? Or a pteradactyl?

Not really as implausible as you seem to think.

How much do you know about "bait dogs"?

Given the post above that says a lot of the dogs are of breeds that would be perfect bait dogs, I'd say that is even more likely than someone selling them.
It's why I asked the OP about the prevalence of dog fighting in the area (though I got no response)....

Not a lot of evidence of people eating dogs in your links. Just speculation on the one and the others are about a dead deer.

..................

Where the hell did the OP go? Posted this and dipped out?
I spent a bit of time yesterday trying to dig up some information about dog fighting in the area. Didn't see much.

....I'm still going with them being bait dogs, given the breeds (mainly the size...breed really doesn't matter in regards to bait dogs)

..........................
ETA: yes, I know people eat dogs.
