For me its just a painful reminder of how ridiculous we all were for the years leading up to 2012...what with that whole stuff about Nibiru, doomsday preppers and Mayan calendars and all. I 'll be the first one to admit I loved me some planet x back then.

It would be interesting to see a few threads resurrected and some of the predictors discuss how their predictions failed.

I find the continued existence of the board an important historical resource. I would hate to see all the earnest discussion flushed down the drain.

Yes, there was a bit of silliness and a bit of misplaced certainty. Having a reminder of how easy it is to jump into the mass enthusiasm instead of critical thinking is an important aspect of the ATS forums.

ATS could just add a zero and the forum could be going strong until the year 20120.

Problem solved.

It`s for the people who believe in the "time will go in reverse theory" and still think 2012 will be the end.

1 wonders MissSmartypants are 2012 activities happening why many are not paying attention to the Cosmic traffic near SOL space because of date accuracy...

Other then that possibility 1 is not sure

The only threads I see resurrected are the ones from those same people who have "recalculated" the date.

Patience.

One must allow some margin of error.

its amazing that none of these idiots " calculated " the date correctly first time - but now they are sure " next time " is REAL

Thats a hard question to answer(that was a question, right?) and I can't argue with a thing you said.

We all need to come to some sort of consensus and decide on one of those recalculated dates. I'm reminded of the whole Blossom Good child/October debacle.

So when the Middle East gets out of the 7th Century they will have something to look forward to.

Lol good luck with that. If we narrowed down the date like that, once the date passed everyone's favorite pastime of doom porning and fearmongering would go away. Though, to me, I'd be happy. Anyone who thinks they can predict the end of the world, no matter what method they use, has some screws loose in their head. Well except for this version of the end of the world.

I'd like to see it replaced with something more generalized for the mysterious subjects that don't fit in the other forums. I posted a thread about it a few weeks ago. I even came up with a button for it in honor of Charles Fort

Another forum that I'd like to see is one for vanishings/disappearances.

And some finds like these also-

Discovery! Possible Dwarf Planet Found Far Beyond Pluto’s Orbit by ELIZABETH HOWELL on MARCH 26, 2014

Today, astronomers announced the discovery of 2012 VP113, a world that, assuming its reflectivity is moderate, is 280 miles (450 kilometers) in size and orbiting even further away from the sun than Pluto or even the more distant Sedna (announced in 2004). If 2012 VP113 is made up mostly of ice, this would make it large (and round) enough to be a dwarf planet, the astronomers said.

Are two giant planets lurking beyond Pluto? Unusual orbits spotted in the outer solar system hint at the presence of large worlds
The aligned orbits of rocky bodies around Pluto hints at an unseen planet
Spanish scientists claim this world would be 10 times the mass of Earth
They believe this planet is moving in resonance with a much larger world
They calculated this world would have a mass between that of Mars and Saturn and would orbit 200 times Earth's distance from the sun

I believe it was explained to us that to be relevant for continued and future discussion...the thread(s) remain. Once you post or start a thread ...it stays forever.

Same I think with what you said...and what screen-name said it: it stays. Otherwise, it would cause confusion in reference to those threads and posts.

Mods? A clarification please?
