Hey all. I'll cut to the chase...i was on Google maps earlier and came across this little place in Australia. Not really sure what it is?

So, this area is in the middle of nowhere. The nearest airports seem to be 35 and 60 miles away, doesn't seem a lot but it's as i said in the middle of nowhere. It looks like a mining operation maybe or an excavation.
What's also strange is the immediate geographical area it's in. As you zoom in on the map it becomes clearer what i mean.

The coordinates are in the pic.

Just to give you an understanding of the scale:

Your first picture, you may have gotten it mixed up. Isn't that a magnification of an ebola virus?

No, no clue what it is though. A sand castle?

It could literally be anything.

A repeater tower, an old station building, old telegraph station, an old dam or well or bore.

Nice find though, doesn't look like it's been visited recently or often as the tracks leading to it disappear pretty quickly

It's proximity to the national park may be related.

America has three bases in Australia that are not well known (maybe/probably more.. I only know these). One is a HUGE listening base.

Your map is interesting.

If you bring it up on Gmaps the area is cut off from everywhere. It's looks like it's a cliff edge with a structure at the bottom?

Looks like it would be the perfect place for a listening post.

I am not quite sure where this place is in relation to William creek or Oodnadata but is quite common for exploration companies and the like to dig dams like this , line them and fill them with bore water . Good find though .

theres lots of small mining sites everywhere so its so hard too tell when you see something in the middle of nowhere like that in the outbackish area.
