RANDOM CONFESSION:

The first time I played the SIMS I built a beautiful two story house for a female Sim modeled after my own personality....everything was decked out perfectly - furnishings, hobbies, pets - you name it....I even put a little Golden Gnome ornament on the front lawn.

The first nightfall after everything was finished and in order, my Sim went out front to look at the Golden Gnome....and was promptly abducted by aliens.

After that, whenever she would interact with another Sim, she would always bring up the abduction experience - at which point the other Sim would just walk away and never talk to her again.

Every.
Single.
Time.

One day - I will have a little home...and yes...there will be a Golden Gnome on the front lawn....I am now forever linked to that lawn ornament for personal and sentimental reasons, as I'm sure some of you might understand.

So, the moral to this story is:

IF YOU EVER GET ABDUCTED BY ALIENS OR SEE A UFO DON'T TALK ABOUT IT TO ANYONE WHO DOESN'T HAVE A GOLDEN GNOME.

Haha! I confess to setting the Lunar Cycle to one phase in TS3, because when a full moon is out, the zombies congregate on my Sim's property from sundown to sunup.

Zombie moans, potent psychological warfare

I'm actually disappointed the creators of that game did that, I'm glad I never played it now.

If I see your gnome someday I will leave flowers for it.

Hahahaha! AWESOME! I only have the first version so my options were somewhat limited, even with the add on packs.

ha ha It reminds me about the story of someone who's gnome was stolen and the person received photos of the gnome on vacation overseas.

Yet last week, she opened her front door to find the missing leprechaun, which she had nicknamed Murphy, staring up at her. Beside the battered garden ornament lay a tightly wrapped parcel, containing an album of 48 photos showing him engaging in daring activities at exotic locations all over the globe.

That story is truly an inspiration to us all...I need to add that to the Bucket List.

I am a collector of gnomes and my travelocity gnome watches over us all in the living room. I don't put him outside for fear that someone will take him on an unauthorized vacation lol.

I would not mind having a golden gnome. It's a shame someone stole it. Maybe one day he will be like the Lorax and reappear when the time is just right.

Wow I never saw the golden gnome in the game I just had a couple I got in the mail that would pop around the house and get into my sims way!Was it something you bought in game or store for the game? I love your real one in garden, it rocks!

First time I ever played the sims I had my guy for maybe two days at the most. Just enough to get to know how to play the game. Bought him fireworks and whence set it off it promptly came down and landed on his head and killed him. Lol I was sooo sad. This was from the days you still had to have a Gardner.

I'm looking forward to sims 4. I have sim city 4 and 5, I love the graphics for 5 which I'm thinking will be similar to what sims 4 will be like. I prefer though the building options in simcity 4. Probably because I have so many plugins for it

If I ever see your gnome got loose, I'll be sure to let you know.

The gnome was via an add-on expansion pack for the first run of the series if memory serves....the disks are around here somewhere...although where exactly they are at this moment I haven't the faintest clue.

Hmmm.

Now part of me wants to get a golden gnome, and the other part of me wants to avoid them at all costs. One can never be sure if the cost of knowing the truth is too high.

Though, I can see the attraction. A bright golden gnome is just garish enough for the neighbors to shun you to begin with, while also attracting attention from any interstellar travelers in the area.

What happens if some other Sim looks at it?
