Hmm, it depends on the individual but I am old and live alone, and I love it!
Dont get me wrong, people who make it to old age and still have that spark between them are very lucky people and many will envy them, BUT!

I am free! My time is my own!
Friends? I choose them carefully rather than having to suffer the fools my X considered as friends. That means a lot to me as I seriously value my time.
Most of my time is spent with grandchildren and I really cant imagine anything more enjoyable than that. Every day I suffer their love; their laughter; their cuddles....I am VERY happy being alone free.
