Alright, so for years me and my nephew have been trying to recall a song we heard when MTV was actually music. The band is like The Killers/The Who, throughout the song, the band is playing on a hill top, lightning crashes all around them, hitting amps and drums. Does anyone have a clue to this songs name??!?!

Hmm. That fits the 80's M.O.
Big hair, explosions and helicopters for no reason flying through a set.

Try Judas Priest " You got another thing coming "
Or
Iron Maiden "run for the hills"

You didn't really specify metal or rock..

The reference to The Who makes me think that this could be the song One Big Holiday by the band My Morning Jacket. It proved impossible to find the official video online, but it was the band playing as silhouettes. There may very well have been lightning, I just can't remember. I could be way off but I had to suggest it! Came out about 10 years ago.

Wow! A round of applause to all the people who responded! And a star...but not for the OP, who hasn't been back.

Also a thank you for being music appreciators...hehe...we all know what it's like to remember a video, forget the song...etc.
(A special thanks for the Linkin Park video...love them!)

I have no idea which one OP is referring to, but good on you all for coming up with great suggestions...and memories....

That is all. Carry on!
