I have already written about this, but the origins of the victory of communism remind me of a quote from a book by the American Charles Cole, who visited the USSR in 1972. He met a certain African at an exhibition in Moscow and asked him how many students from his country were studying in Moscow. The African replied:

I'm aware of the persecution during the Bolsheviks' time, that's why added "after Stalin's death." After that breakthrough the regime softened not only in Russia but in all Soviet block. The guy claims that the Church was persecuted during communism while now under Putin it enjoys freedom. This is incorrect. It was tolerated as long as it didn't go against the regime. And it's exactly the same now. Nothing has changed.

It's funny. You know about the situation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Russia better than I, an Orthodox Christian.

I am absolutely free, I go to Church and perform any rituals. I openly declare on all platforms that I am Orthodox. I recently donated to the Church the relics of the holy blessed prince Alexander Nevsky, about which I wrote on the ATS thread. Nobody in Russia prevents me from doing anything. You, being many thousands of kilometers from Russia, think that you know about this better than me.

Continue to be convinced, because you will always be a loser, since you absolutely do not know the people whom you consider your opponents.

You know, I have many friends in Moscow. One of them is a philosopher, like you. His name is Sergei Morozov. A famous philosopher whose books sell well. I drank more than one barrel of vodka with him and ate more than one ton of snacks))))
So, he is a liberal, and I am an Orthodox statist. But, for all his liberal views, he is an ardent supporter of Russia, the operation in Ukraine, and we usually sit in Moscow cafes with friends from the Northern Military District and Donbass, who came to Moscow on business.

But sometimes Sergei’s liberalism reveals openly fascist views. He considers this natural and does not hide the fact that this is so. Liberalism is definitely transformed over time into fascism, dictatorship, Gulags and other “delights” of communism.

I know that Russian philosophical thought is huge, diverse and multifaceted. But I am convinced of this in practice, when communicating with friends.))))
