So you are saying British people haven't had to cut back because of energy prices?

Sure, some people have had to cut back on energy usage amongst other things, but I'd argue that's more down to the extortionist practices and blatant profiteering of the energy companies.
That they have been able to do so is more or less due to the policies implemented by previous governments and administrations along with the relative reluctance of the current government to do anything truly long lasting and effective about it rather than any current world affairs.

Its inexcusable that we are in this situation....but I assure you, its no way near as bad as many claimed it would be or that the OP claims it is.

This is just more of the constant drip, drip feeding of anti-UK/US/NATO propaganda that the OP engages in. He cares little for accuracy and truthfulness and is more concerned with the incessant pushing of a narrative that he hopes will eventually influence people.

Fortunately the vast majority of people here on ATS can see through his rather lame and pathetic attempts and see him for exactly what he is.

Are you in denial or do you just ignore the suffering in your aweful little country?

Why do you think the UK is awful?
What #hole do you come from?

Hi im LSU2018, i don't really understand people being facetious, but i do know a lot about white supremacy.

Anyhoo, and back on topic, electricity is indeed expensive but we are not quite at the brownout phase just yet.

The real crux of the problem is throughout all the mess and palaver, pandemics, Brexit, and all that jazz, and now Russia's war in Ukraine, the bastarding energy companies have been experiencing record profits which is diabolical by my guess.

Again?
Sort of implies we've already had to cut energy use, which we haven't.
So yet again, absolute bollocks.

The massive increase in energy prices means we have had to cut energy use..

Youuuuuu weren't being facetious...

You know, you'd think that for the things people really need most to live, from pharmaceuticals to fuel to electricity to healthy food, the prices would be near the bottom so that everybody could benefit. The elites in every civilized country won't allow it though because like you said, profits.

Here in the hinterlands of the North East I've just had my evening meal of leather sole of boot with mud pies. I also had a warm cup of wild nettle tea all cooked/brewed on an open fire.
All as we descend into the neo-Dark Ages as civilization crumbles around us.

God knows how bad it must be beyond The Wall up in Glasgow?

Scented candles for dessert?

You were lucky. We used to dream of scented candles for dessert.

We have to make do with a handful of gravel....etc.

Without electricity, we would not be having this conversation so there is that.

People need electricity in this day of age same with pharmaceuticals and that's just a point of fact.....And good food.

As to the cost of electricity well the free market and supply and demand dictate such or so I'm lead to believe as unfortunate as the case may be where power is concerned.

The alternative being the likes of socialism and communism which i do believe you are against.

The elites in every civilized country won't allow it though because like you said, profits.

The thing is there is only so much blood "they" can get out of the stone, and the cost of electricity and gas is through the roof, some might say unsustainable should it get any worse.

By my guess after all those record profits the power companies could be doing with taking a hit put it that way as opposed to the average Joe.

Electricity isn't a free market, you have to go with the company in your region/area. Pharmaceuticals are in the same boat if you're insured, which brings up another point of forced high cost. It was even required or you were charged a penalty for not having health insurance back when obama was president. Fuel is the same way. You might find it 10¢ cheaper at another store but that's all.

Not here you dont, a few different power companies on offer.

Well, that's what national insurance contribution is all about and our much beloved NHS, even if she is on her arse to a certain degree down to political meddling.

You don't get much choice with your ISP neither do you in most states or so I'm led to believe?

A free market in electricity would be great for competition, as would insurance.

There are different choices for internet depending on your area, and then you can choose fiber optic, cable, satellite, etc., but the speed you order is what costs. I live on the outskirts of a small, 3 sq mi town so I have one option other than satellite (which goes out during a rain storm), and that's cable. I can buy 15 mbps or 30. I don't mind that as much since it's due to where I live. I think we pay $80 per month for the 30 mbps package.

Suppose im kind of lucky that way living in a city with an extensive fiber optic network in place these days, spoiled for choice even.

Cities are crap in a whole lot of other sorts of ways all the same.

I miss the smell of the countryside.......well not the manure and the like but you get what i mean.

Especially so on days and nights like this.

Do you live in Britain to even understand what this means in whether a big deal or nothing burger?
