Hi,
I've been getting these Meredian Trust letters for ages. They offer to buy my rental 'as is'.
Off course I'm very suspicious. They also make sure to use US flag stamps , to 'appeal to my patriotism'

My guess is that it's Vanguard/Blackrock behind these.

Also ,what's with the insane housing prices in Florida right now ?
My mom has been trying to buy a home and the prices are insane, plus they are sold within a few days !
Very suspicious. Not only are the same houses that would have been 180k a few years ago , now 280k, any new house on the market sells within 3 or so days

This is happening in TX too.
Vanguard/Blackrock and a bunch of chinese companies are buying up houses - paying way over asking and in cash. Then, they turn around and rent it for high prices. All of this is causing property taxes to be OUTRAGEOUS....

It is this way in Colorado also. I sold my previous home for a ridiculous amount - I dont believe it was actually worth it - but the market said I could sell it for the price I did. It was under contract in 4 days. I sold it for $50k over asking w/ a bidding war.....and no inspection from the buyers.
Then I bought a house in TX - a unicorn/miracle house - and now my equity is already 100k+ because of how many are moving here.

It’s not a suspicion, they’re doing it (according to reports.. I haven’t confirmed myself). Buying houses up at way above the market price. It’s what you can do with infinite money. You will own nothing..

They want a social catastrophe. One which you can already see brewing - tons of people homeless.. so they can provide a solution for you - more socialism.

I think what you have to be concerned with is rising property taxes.

Meridian Trust and Golex Properties may send "as is" home buying letters, indicating interest in purchasing your home without requiring repairs. Consider offers carefully and research companies before making a decision.

Always check on a company before doing business, especially one on such a grand scale.

Here is the BBB on them:
www.bbb.org...

I actually read all complaints and the company had responded to each of them for the most part. Some of the complaints were pretty mediocre and some were valid against the company using pressure and then changing their mind on what they were offering but there were opt out options to the seller. I actually didn't see any horrendous acts and a company like this is always out for itself. If anyone is going to do business with a company like this, be sure to record the conversations. There are free apps on Google play, I use one quite frequently when talking on financial issues. ALSO take notes with names, dates and times and brief description. For the most part, try to communicate for the most part in writing via email. It's a bit more tedious but it gives you time to write what you mean and it's hard to refute what is put in writing. In fact, all my communications with my internet, satellite, etc. I use the chat option because I can print screen and paste to notepad or copy all of it and print to a pdf file and save on my computer.

I think sometimes these types of companies can help out a seller and remove a lot of headaches but it's certainly not for everyone. Be cautious.
