Why? Just Why?

Grocery stores have waiting lines. Shelves are empty. People are frantically purchasing every resource possible.

Do you really believe everything will shut down over the weekend? Why the need to consume every resource in sight?

I personally, have no fear about this virus.

I went to the store an hour ago. Yes, to stock up. Why? Because I was worried there wouldn’t be any resources left — from all the hoarding.

Has the fear overtaken you?

Ridiculous isn’t it?
I went to the store after work to get some coffee creamer because I am running low and the damn store was cleaned out of almost everything.

I’m with you.
Couldn’t care less about it.

So far there hasn’t been any reported cases in my city - not saying it wont happen, but the proper protocols are in place for prevention.
I personally think people are blowing this up to make it into something its not.
But I’m only saying that because I have a completely bias opinion in regards to the virus.

No fear here, just anger from all the people panic buying and acting stupid. I feel sorry for the senior citizens who live alone and are running low on supplies. It won't be easy for these older folks driving around looking for toilet paper and other supplies, while worrying about catching this virus.

I went to the store today as a matter of course, picked up a few things to hold me out to the end of the month. The place was packed. Pasta, rice, hand sanitizer and toilet paper stripped bare. I was surprised to see that bar soap was virtually untouched. I needed some toilet paper but all bets were off with that anyway.

I blame the media for whipping people into a frenzy. I have no fears about the virus for me or my husband...but I worry for our parents. I called them and they're doing all right out in the middle of nowhere far from the panic of the city.

Exactly. That's the same reason everybody else has got. Panic-buying is motivated by fear of other people's panic-buying.

But my theory is that it must fade out once people feel "fully-stocked".

It was obvious that this would happen. We seen the same thing in every country with an outbreak. Same pattern every time.

First the Masks
Second the lysol wipes / lysol
Third the toilet paper
Then everything else.

Of course the primary reason why? Because they don't have a few weeks of food at home for an emergency so they have to panic.

I went to Walmart yesterday for toilet paper.
Not to stock up because we were nearly out.

People just don’t seem to understand that if you’re stocking upon essentials now you are already to late.

You do realise that this comment shows that you're actually contributing to the problem that you've come on here to rant about?

Not really,

All I did was stop in the local farm supply store and bought two gas cans and filled them up, just in case there is a run on gas next.

I also picked up a gallon jug of rubbing alcohol, you know, just in case, an extra bag of dog food, and a few more cans of cat food.

I'm good on the Walmart BS. Our friends that were mocking us for telling them they better get tp and some non perishables about a week or two ago are the ones that are currently shopping, waiting in line.
The wife went late last night and got some milk and a few groceries for the normal dinner stuff.

You know, chillin on the couch watching the world burn..lol..but seriously, it is kind of surreal.

I have no idea what your bias opinion is. However, I can tell you that I’d probably agree with it.

Example: fear mongering for the purpose of political gain.

We have enough laid in to get us through for a while on all fronts, but now I'm concerned that we may have a time doing our weekly shopping on Sunday.

Actually, not true. I did an inventory on my food provisions. I literally had max 10 days rations. I never usually preserve more than that.

I’m a bachelor. Hence, why I said I felt the need to stock up. Only because everyone else was hoarding resources.

Now I don't want to go to the store to get my wife's english muffins that we are almost out of. About the only thing we "want" is those perishables (fruit, veg, cottage cheese, english muffins)

I'm about 10 years ahead of the curve on this one...

Of course, to me it's because I am planning on (when I retire) have little to no actual bills and be as self-sustainable as I can.

So no MRE's here...

But I'm not due to buy toilet paper again until September, because I bulk order once a year.

I'm praying for self-isolation.

I haven't had much time off in the last few years and could use the break.

This is not directed at you infolurker. Just a reply.

Americans didn't pay attention and make rational purchases when the bug left China.

The hoarding of butt-wipe is just hilarious. What were they doing before? Running on a six-pack roll. And how much of the stuff is really needed on-hand? You're gonna stay home and starve, but you'll maintain a relatively clean butt til ya die.

All is normal here. Stores fully stocked, no panic.

If it wasn't for the Internet and news, I wouldn't know anything of the chaos.

It's much more peaceful out there..
