Rep. Trey Gowdy stepped down from the House Ethics Committee this week after five years of serving on the panel.

The South Carolina Republican tendered his resignation in a letter to House Speaker Paul Ryan on Wednesday, the details of which were published in the Congressional Record on Thursday and reported by news outlets later in the week.

He says he has too much of a workload.
Is there something that is going to take even more of his time coming up?

Well that was unexpected. Wonder what they have on him....or what he has planned. He doesn't seem like someone that would just suddenly do this.

Wondering if this has to do with whatever is going to happen on the 17th....again not believing these Fake News Awards are what's actually happening.

Could also be he is tired of trying to cut the BS and never getting anywhere, or possibly something more lucrative is in his near future with POTUS...new position maybe? Seems like I had heard a rumor a while back about something of the sort.

U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy has resigned from his post on the House Ethics Committee in an attempt to mitigate what he described as a challenging workload.

In a Jan. 10 letter to House Speaker Paul Ryan, the South Carolina Republican said his five years on the committee was an experience he would treasure but that he could not balance it with his other committee assignments.

I've been a big fan of Trey Gowdy for quite some time. It doesn't sound like he's doing this because of any personal scandals, only because he doesn't have the time to handle all of his original duties in his primary role as a Representative. I sure hope there are no personal scandals.

This section of Q's post (from yesterday) seems to deal with Gowdy:

NO NEED to step down if needed to TESTIFY.

DO NOT chase MISINFO.

What ROLE might TG be walking into?

I guess we'll have to see if Gowdy gets a new position sometime soon.

I like him and hope he is much more active in things. He seems to have his ducks in a nice row, and so far, has a clean closet.

Interesting times indeed.

DOJ IG report is due out soon as well.

If the report says what I suspect it will say, there will be calls for a special prosecutor.
