Would Tory voters cast their vote in favour of, or against, if there was a General Election tomorrow?

I would also like to add, I am not looking for a political argument, merely if any Tory voters had changed their minds, since Mr Osborne made it clear the vulnerable must continue to pay for the bankers greediness?

Hard one....

Yes as much as I hate camron and Osborne my local MP is still pretty good and I respect her.

Plus I am generally right of center so could not vote for a left leaning government.

UKIP is tempting me though. It might be a bit to far right for me but I'm not being left with many alternatives.

I have long appreciated your stance on how you vote, so I am surprised to read you are beginning to sway.

Not that it's a bad thing, it's a rad thing.

Well I'm not a party loyalist.

I I'll vote for what ever MP I think represents me the best or who I have confidence in.

If in another elections a UKIP or Libdem candidate can convince me they can represent me better they will get my vote.
I guess labour too but it would be a very very hard sell as I'm just not left inclined.
Green nah..... Hell will freeze over

Given that Corbyn Is hated by the media what choice would they have?

God damn sensible talking chap that he is.

Who votes for a lefty loony like that when we have good conservatives to vote for?

I've never voted Tory and definitely never will after the disgraceful way they have hammered disabled and poorest whilst letting off big corporations like Google.

I have always voted Labour until last GE but never would again. They no longer represent the normal person on the street. They claim to but don't. Difference is Tories are just ruthless #s, Labour pretend to listen but don't. A lot are still from private schools and still far removed from real peiple. I find the likes if Yvette Cooper etc juat bloody patronising. They say they are for the working man then let the world in to drive down wages etc. I could never forgive Ed Milliband for not trusting the intelligence of the electorate and giving a referendum.

I voted UKIP last time but purely as a protest vote and because the only person who does seem to understand the normal British person. However, once you get past Steven Wolfe and Farage I'm not impressed with the rest.

And now there is the hippie Corbyn who seems nice enough but is too far left for me.

Sorry state of affairs we have really. No true leaders a reply to: Cobaltic1978

Corbyn will never be elected, because Grown Up politics is boring.

A lefty loony?

A man with a social conscience, who isn't a Bilderberger, more like.

Ah, yeah, you're right. He is unelectable.

Certainly looks like his budget has been a step too far for even his backbenchers and with regards to disabled being attacked yet again looks like he is facing a rebellion, some threatening to resign and veto. Maybe the beginning of the end are they going to implode? Sure hope so because some of their policies are just plain cruel they are attacking the weakest constantlyla reply to: Cobaltic1978

The British electorate is centrist. New Labour was successful because they held the centre ground. The current Conservatives are also in the centre ground.

Corbyn represents the Left. This is why he won't get elected.

Sadly for Corbyn, the British electorate is quite discerning and discriminates against those who deviate from the centre ground.

To the OP. I have voted for all three major parties in the past. If there was a GE tomorrow I would vote for the Conservatives because I trust them more than I trust Labour and Corbyn. It's who Corbyn surrounds himself with that worries me.

He is. The PLP know that.

There will be a coup in The Labour Party a couple of years before the next election.

Corbyn will be ousted.

Coming into the labour party and talking about left wing politics??

What was he thinking eh?

What we need is a sham faux labour that is actually as right wing as the tories but within a lie that will convince the average man on the street that they will get a better deal....

Oh no sorry been there and done...

That's the sad irony isn't it!
In the meantime Mr Cameron once again is cutting Corp tax for small businesess, how jolly nice of him when his mates in big concerns like Newscorp are busy indulging in tax avoidance as a matter of routine, it didn't stop him calling out Jimmy Carr a while back though...it just shows how sleeked is our Mr Cameron, pointing the press in another direction, and guess who most of the press are.

I would never vote Conservative, even though I am not a dyed-in-the-wool socialist I still see the need for a capitalist system which is a much broader church, IMHO.
I'm sure though that there decent politicians of all shades in the back benches...but then that's why they are there.
Those that hold cabinet office are not much more than a cabal, and for modern people, they live in the past with their incredible snobbery, like Lord Young's remarks not so long ago,
Poor people or homeless, "Aren't they the people you step over when you are coming out of the opera?"
and Lord Flight I think it was, talking about poor people breeding.
So you won't see these guys who just can't resist talking in brown haemorrhages, standing outside Tesco's collecting money for charities anytime soon.

I won't ever vote again because I'm past believing any change will ever come from within the system. There are no candidates worth my consent and never will be, just salesmen with a different pitch.

When there's a date the people gather with petrol to burn parliament down let me know, I'll be there flicking cigarettes.

If you are not looking for a political argument then why do you make your own biased political statement.

For what it's worth the one person I wouldn't vote for is Corbyn.

I think Corbyn is (to me) unelectable as he panders to the Islington based, Guardian reading throwbacks from the early '80's. I've yet to hear any points made by the opposition that are pro-active rather than knee jerk retorts with the sophistication of a 16 year old who wants to get into politics.

I also think it's strange how the left leaning press call out the Tories on cronyism but don't make too much mention of the fact that Corbyn has at least one former(?) lover in his shadow cabinet - you could say why should that matter if they are the right person for the role which would be a very good point if it wasn't Diane Abbott.

I think the only good thing Corbyn could do is to shift the "center" more towards the left and therefore make the Torys adjust accordingly to ensure they maintain power.

I cannot see him ever having a hope of getting in but pulling the torys further left would certainly benifit the country right now in my opinion.

I do agree that Labour should be able to be seen as more left of centre, absolutely as that would allow voters to make a vote based on a left leaning manifesto rather than who their parents and grand parents voted for.

If you mean my bias towards the vulnerable being treated the way they are, then I accept that. I made no mention of any other political party in the opening thread, so please stay on topic.

I'm guessing you are happy for the vulnerable to continuously be the ones to pay whilst the Big Corporations have their burden reduced?

You're doing it again, but you asked the question....

If lowering of corporation tax brings more business into the UK, then yes, I agree with it. I don't get my view of the facts from the Socialist Worker. I'd also rather encourage business to the UK than drive it away - I'll caveat that by saying that should be the case as long as all taxes are paid which is actually a little bit more complicated than some people think due to a following a tax system devised long before multi national, global organisations existed.

As for 'continuously being the ones to pay', that's an interesting one but I can only talk about my own position. My salary creeps into the higher tax band of £43K, not by a lot and it certainly doesn't make me rich. By being just inside it, 40 pence in the pound tax, plus NI etc means that little extra is almost totally lost. For that reason I welcome the increase. Conversely my wife works for the NHS in a job that is roughly a pound an hour more than the minimum rate. and the raising of the tax threshold will take her out of tax.

So yes, in the absence of a realistic manifesto from any other party, I would vote Tory. If another party comes up with something I agree with more and that I actually believe, then I will choose based on the information at hand.
