Yep, pure union busting. Close store using phony claim, make current employees reapply for their old jobs. Only those jobs go to newer, younger, and much lower on the pay scale hires.

I was going to withhold my comments regarding unions but, hopefully you can help me understand something.

What exactly is the problem with a company going out of business? If the numbers are there, unions will get what they want, if it isn't the company folds. How is that union busting?

Now I understand that Walmart, Inc. itself isn't going out of business here and that changes things a bit but, this quandary has me confused.

I am totally against public sector unions but, I am for free association for private citizens so private unions are fine.

The government is trying to push the new "rain tax". This comes with new and stricter Storm Water Pollution Plan permits, which most large facilities have. The new permits have started going in effect this year. The guidelines for these permits state all deficiencies must be corrected in 14 days or you are in violation and subject to penalties/fines/etc. You also have to assess these quarterly. End of quarter plus 14 days happens to be today. If they have plumbing and drainage problems, this come be the reason. Especially with the EPA breathing down your neck.

Well, don't forget, the new Wal-mart min. wage rate hike takes effect this very week....I just signed for mine at my store last night in fact.

Weird timing...

While this does seem odd, I can't believe that it's just as simple as the government needing buildings to use for the exercises. At least in Austin, there are loads of abandoned big box stores that could be occupied much less conspicuously.

Any Wal-Matt EASILY makes WELL over 20k a day...probably safe to triple that number. There is NO PLUMBING ISSUE that couldn't be fixed overnight with this kind of fiscal value. I'm sure everyone knows this is a cover up. If I were to guess, I would think its the pay increases that have been forced upon the company. They just dumped the positions to baba once out the increase in pay. Silly to close such lucrative store for that but, with almost 13 BILLION in sales a year (I'm not sure if that is net or gross), they could give a rat's furry backside.

Its not to use the weapons at all...The key is to blend in completely with the civilian population of these areas. The civilians are to report any strangeness they see or hear to the local civil authorities . (i.e. try to "catch the military in the game") Now what it actually boils down to , I dont know.Perhaps a different style of urban warfare ? Infiltrate the enemy population , then surprise, surprise sort of tactical exercise .

It occurs to me that all of these stores are specifically close to the ocean or rivers which lead directly to the ocean. These are also three coastal areas, plus OK, that have heavy UFO/USO sightings.

Perhaps there is something in the water and it surfaced in these areas through the plumbing. Beyond walmart, any strange 'plumbing' closures around the nation. Wal Mart could just be a matter of probability based on their number of stores, so if other stores have the same problem then it is the water and not wages/Jade Helm.

I worked at wal-mart ten years, I never understood the logic of unionizing a wal-mart employee. This is how much skill and higher education you need to work at a walmart -------> 0, nothing . A semi-sober homeless man can do most of his daily tasks at the store just fine so long as they stay focused.

I dont see the point of unionizing non-skilled labor. I look at it from the capitalist view point. A non-skilled labor job is essentially a disposable position. People do not need to pay a third party to drive up costs for the merchandise and services just to get a small pay increase which likely will not even compensate for the union dues.

Now plumbers, firemen, policemen, electricians, engineers and so on I can understand. Burger flippers and door greeters, no rational reason to be under a union.

In fact your average super center clears well over 100k daily. My old one would average 120k-150k daily and it was only 99,000 sq feet, less than half the size of your typical box behemoth. Weekend numbers bring the weekly total to at or around $1,000,000+ .

I live in Midland tx. The Walmart here is one of the most profitable in Texas. And the plumbing issues are complete bull. My close friend has a plumbing contract with the Walmart that got closed and he said if this is the case then Walmart has just voided the contract. He also said he just did a plumbing inspection there and everything was great. No union here that any one knows of. This is just too weird. And the Walmart here that is closing down is off of midland drive. There were a bunch of men in button down shirts and slacks hanging around in there before it closed. Everything looked to be recently stocked and the shelves were full. The men I mentioned earlier were standing out front like they were almost guarding it maybe. No plumbing trucks or waste vaccum trucks in the parking lot. The workers here only had 5 hours notice. We are a big city but no where for them to put a FEMA camp. We don't have any stadiums big enough to occupy. Just figured I'd give y'all some info from a place where it is happening.

Also local news reported that the Walmart here in midland hasn't contacted them for a permit yet. Typically they request one several months in advance.

from the San Gabriel Valley Tribune:

530 Pico Rivera Walmart employees laid off after sudden closure of supercenter

Walmart announced Monday that it is temporarily closing its Pico Rivera supercenter on Washington Boulevard due to plumbing problems but City Manager Rene Bobadilla said a union official told him that all 530 employees have been laid off.

And from the past year:

23 Arrested In Protest At Pico Rivera Walmart
November 13, 2014

Police arrested dozens of people protesting working conditions and wages at a Walmart in Pico Rivera Thursday after they allegedly refused to move from an intersection they were blocking.

Officers took 23 people into custody around 6:30 p.m. in the 8500 block of Washington Boulevard when they inhibited traffic at Washington and Paramount boulevards, sheriff’s Lt. Alex Villanueva said.

Coincidence? Hardly.

A 6-month cooling off period is all Walmart needs to wipe out any nascent union-organization attempts. Walmart can afford it. Walmart will view busting any union organization as a much cheaper alternative than to allow such attempts to succeed.

Funny you say that, because the one they shut down here in Brandon, Florida is the largest in this district, and quite the money maker as well. It is conveniently located in the same square miles as a very large shopping mall and the AMC regency 20 cinemas. Quite a bit of people traffic in that area. I still have friends in management at that store, I will reach out to try and see if we can dig through the bull#.

Ya know. When I worked for Tacamo strat comm in the navy a decade ago. They always said in a real world situation, we would take over a Wal Mart. Perfect cover, and full of supplies. Not saying that is what it is, but it seems eerily similar.

I'm curious more about profit in those areas. From what I'm seeing a couple have very low property value and high crime. It could just be simply they are closing and don't want to make the real issue shown out of embarrassment....whatever that may be.

As for using Walmarts as a detention center...that just really wouldnt work. There are tons of doors and exits all over the store. Be easier to just throw down some barb wire in a circle and put people in. But lets say for the sake of doom porn....it could store alot of equipment that people wouldnt be able to see...shipping bays are already there and tons of space inside to store stuff.

To me this shows more a sign of the economy. Like if Walmart can't even survive how can any business...

The oil rich nations are dumping American bonds, maybe they have seen the writing on the wall . If that's the case its time for people to start, communal gardens, and start the exit from the cash society.

I live in Tulsa. The location here is a Super Wal-Mart and is located on the lower-income side of town. It's is really a vital retail shop for thousands of people and stays extremely busy. Strange they couldn't keep it open while repairs are made. They literally have no competition for groceries for several miles.

You bring up a point....wasn't there some way to avoid taxes if you just changed the headquarters of your company...like for example if walmart said we are a Belgium company now there was some way to avoid taxes. I know a year or so ago a few companies were doing it and we all kind of forgot but im curious how many are still doing that. I'll try to find that link.

What if they are preparing them for triage places. Maybe they are aware of a full scale attack. Can someone pin the locations on a map so we can get a look at the distance from each other.
