Goodbye ATS.

So im off to work in just over an hour and i should hopefully get back online tonight about 10.30pm Ireland time.

So if i dont make it, wake up tomorrow and ATS is gone, im saying my goodbye now.

I love ATS, been here since 2011. I had crows flying around in my signature. The amount of comments i got people thinking they were insects on their screens, lol.

Do we not have a millionaire member who can keep it going? If i could i most def would. Its an old site as we all know. Best on the web hands down.
The information here alone, never mind the greatness of the members, is such a big, heavy, loss.

Shame.

Just in case yiz didnt know theres DENY IGNORANCE up and running with quite a few ATS members there.

I cant believe im typing this, but goodbye old friend ATS.

Not much in its current form. You could run the site on a $100 used server off ebay and consumer grade fios or xfinity internet connection. There's not enough traffic to require load balancers, a single server could easily handle the traffic.

Eliminate the graphics and you could run this site on a Commodore 64. It's not much different than the old school BBS

Nothing against the new site, but all the research over the years done by so many will be lost with ATS.

This is an interesting conflict for me. Bear with me. Historically, at ATS staff has not allowed "goodbye" threads -- that is, people who are leaving and instead of logging out, they make a dramatic thread.

This is different. As a moderator, I think you should be allowed to say goodbye to the place you have loved and hope it remains. As a member, I will tell you that I've done the same here on a different thread.

It's been a good ride, yeah? I hope ATS and TOP( The Other Place -- DI) survive. At least TOP has owner guidance that includes staff. It's something to think about. A great organization cannot survive intact without leadership. It just cant. Otherwise, it spirals down into an internet version of Lord of the Flies. Just human nature.

You have all, and I mean ALL, including difficult persons, and maybe even a special fistbump to some difficult persons whom I eventually got to know, (you know who you are); we have all created a collective word which has enhanced my life, and if it is gone someday soon, I will miss it. If it is gone someday soon, I am so grateful for TOP to cushion the blow. If ATS survives, I think I will still gradually transition from here to DI, because there is organization there, and data, and camaraderieand that, ultimately is what I need.

See you all on the flipside. See my sig for where to go. We are all, ALL of us, starting a new thing. What a delight to be on the ground floor, just like before.

It has been strange at times, sometimes frustrating. I learned a lot and had fun. I hope I informed at least a few others.
