I have been thinking on this since about the first time I arrived at this site. And have seen it mentioned by others. How about an ATS weekly paper, or bimonthly.

Now before anyone goes and has a hairy caniption over this, realize, I know paper and ink cost money.

But I believe it would be benificial in spreading or createing public awareness. The hardest thing I percieve for the paper, is a basis for credibility. Many are going to concider it/the paper to be more of a crackpot publishing. That's why it should publish articles that can be verified through at least three sources along with haveing those sources listed with each article. Not only could it publish *Current Events*, but I see an editorial section allowing some leway in topics

I am more than willing to offer my time to proof reading editing and any other tasks required in such a ordeal. I have noticed many people like the website and visit it. But what about those who just don't have acces to computers or don't own a home PC? Just a thought, or am I alone in this thinking?

It takes an individual to make a majority.
And we have alot of individuals here!

Thats a cool idea Advisor but one question:

Why a paper? Seems to me, that if you really wanted an effective tool for public "spreading and/or creating" public awareness, the source would be an internet type publication....like maybe an e-book type thing but in the form of a 'paper', per se'.

Well you see, as I stated not everyone has access to computers.

Another Idea I have pondered is, possibly a radio station or broadcasting other than internet. Not that I see that occuring anytime soon. But I do see the possiblities of a paper happening. But first and foremost, Simon would have to agree with my opinion. As after all ATS is his baby.
I am mostly interested at this moment in, who likes the possible idea of a publishing dealing with the current events and topics discussed here at ATS. Not to mention, ideas will be rolling in and if William could even add another bar for posts published or something.

Guess time will only tell.

the collaborative fiction could be a tool. all people involved could make a book or something about the gov't and stuff, and we could form an anti-gov'tBS agency. that'd be great. get people to look past the lies. not a far left wing GOV'T BAD typ ething, but thoughroh analysis of todays gov't and what should and will be done to fix it.

Well, either way, I would be interested in it even if it is still in the 'idea' phase.

Could we have a section on profiles of the members, and a wooden spoon of the week award to the stupidest post

Now I like this idea what we could do is get a group of us sit down over a week period and do a update type of document format writen like The Report From Iron Mountion. The only difference would be not how to enslave people or bring down socitys but re establish control on a nation level.

We could try it with a few online editions first, just to get into it.
Excellent idea Advisor

Someone designated as Editorial Director (cough Advisor) would be responsible for collecting materials from contributors.

Designated senior members, along with Simon, would be "Editors In Chief" reviewing the viability of articles. The goal would be a two-page newsletter containing:
1 lead article
2 minor articles
1 story on the hottests threads of the week
1 member close-up
1 story on funny moments in the forums during the week.

Someone (volunteer) would take the approved and finished material and format it into an e-mail newsletter that we could send from our server. We would start by making sure the finished version prints to two 8.5x11 pages for easy copying and distrubution by subscribers. Then, newsletter archives are maintained somewhere on the site.

Eventually, if this takes off, the newsletter could sell appropriate advertising that may eventually fund more elaborate versions in the future. Hmm... I wonder if we know anyone in the advertising biz?

Where are the lone gunmen when you need them?!?! Oh... Yeah

And I would be happy to help with any newsletter you want to put out. I had thought that you just wanted to make an e-mail letter when I opened this thread, but I am sure an ink and paper one would work.

If you all decide to do this, I know someone who knows a thing or two about newspapers...

i'll do my best to do my err best!!!!

this really sounds good, and could REALLY get the word out. this helps our cause a lot, as long as people don't cast it down, we have to make sure that our info is always factual, unbiased, and not extravagant in attacking any one party.

If I can be of assistance I might be persuaded.

As i've explained earlier in another post about this suggestion (which i cant find anywhere) the logistics involved would be crazy, ATS users are spread across the entire world, and the costs involved with publishing a magazine (even in one city) would be a large dent, then we have the issue of someone else branding us conspiranoia freaks and lambasting our magazine.

to an e-zine though.

I like it, I think it's a great idea and I'd be willing to help as well. It would be good exposure for the site and I'm sure we'd all learn something.

A couple suggestions:

Links to related news headlines

Add recently posted "Resources of info" or "Multi-media uploads"

Select an editorial from members submissions.

If it's monthly, it could congragulate "Way Above Award winner"

Maybe a different geographic profile each edition, since our members represent so many different cultures, it would be cool to learn about others.

Horoscope (I'm not a fan of them, but many are.)

How about a Horrorscope? That might just be the gimick to make ours unique.
