Sooner or later if there are ETs and they have reached our level or higher & may be squawking and hopefully we may pick up on their I love Lucy shows some day soon.

Even living micro-organisms would be good, that is all the confirmation needed

Well, I've got three confirmed neurons, and am sure there is or was life out there. With trillions of planets to choose from, life will find a way (and haven't you seen the new data about the very good possibility of past life being again discovered in a meteorite that came from Mars? And that's right next door.)

Apologies, I wasn't being clear enough. I was referring to the very newly released findings about a Mars meteorite that's been researched and in-house vetted for years, and now it's going out for a larger vetting. This one looks really good for a possible past-life connection. The good thread on it here, by Jim Oberg (who doesn't jump to conclusions easily, so that's why the data here is also appropriately labeled as "Possible"):

Just about anyone with a moderate education (i.e., enough education to have learned about the size of the universe) will agree that life almost surely exists elsewhere. Practically ALL of science has come to this realization. Today you would be very hard pressed to find a scientist, or even a layman with a moderate education, who believes Earth is the only place in the universe where there is life.

Therefore, it is a bit of a strawman argument to say "we are ignorant to think we are alone" because the number of people who feel this way is very small, and the great majority of people who may feel this way have not had the advantage of an education that explains the size of the universe to them. I'm sure there are exceptions (i.e., there are people who do understand the size of the universe, yet still refuse to believe in life elsewhere), but there are exceptions to everything, and those people are probably extremely small percentage, so those exceptions are almost not worth worrying about.

However, the question "Are intelligent ETs visiting Earth is spaceships?" Is a totally different question than "are we alone in the universe?". While a vast majority would agree that life exists elsewhere, a smaller number of people may believe that ETs are visiting Earth.

No contradiction really.

If technological life exists elsewhere (which these people operate under the assumption that it does and is nearby enough to detect) then that technological life if sufficiently advanced (our level or higher) could begin to probe and eventually visit nearby star systems.

However those same people realize that interstellar travel is probably not going to be a trivial matter even for a super advanced civilization so the types of claimed encounters and the lack of physical or other testable evidence are a problem.

While cool "it's just planets", they will never be able to prove life on any of them, just that they are Habitable in some form.
There are no doubt millions of planets out there that we can discover with the right tool but thats sadly it, we just know they are there with no chance of reaching any of them or prove if life exist on them.

So ET life is still way of in the distance of our reach or proof.

There is a telescope already set to launch in a couple of years that's better than the kepler, it will be able to detect the different colors n he atmosphere if these planets from its parent sun, and with any good spectrometer worth its salt, it will be able to differentiate between organic and inorganic molecules, and wether they are artificial, proving industry and intelligence. So yes, they will be able to detect life without going there.

Decades ago, they used to say "While cool, 'it's just stars', they will never be able to prove planets orbit around them, just that they are light-years away from Earth."

Once we know there is an Earth-like planet orbiting a star, the next stage is to listen to all the radio and light transmissions from that planet. If we are lucky, we might just detect something. Either the composition of the atmosphere (oxygen, nitrogen, etc...)
