The only way I see crossing inter-stellar distances is possible

bu i think before too long at least one "woo woo" type fringe science FTL scheme will turn out to work. i also predict at that time established science will act as if they knew it all along.

We don't really know do we?

Think back a couple of hundred years and airplanes were thought to be impossible as was going to the moon or sending satellites to Mars or a computer in everyone's pocket. Now these are all standard.

Think that if a civilization was a million or a billion years more advanced than us...then anything is possible. We're limiting our thought process based on what we can achieve at present time, not on what is possible in the future.

There are a lot of things we can't achieve at the present. We can't live on Mars at the present. But we're learning.

The thing is, those things don't violate the physical laws that we are aware of. Unless we can get around those laws or find new ones, interstellar travel is going to be via slow boat.

neither do some forms of FTL. there are legitimate solutions to Relativity that do allow it. these are mathematically valid. but because scientists do not like the consequences for FTL they disregard these valid solutions.

i'll give you an example. relativity does not allow acceleration through light speed. this is true. but it does not forbid FTL. if a mass is traveling FTL it's perfectly allowable. relativity solutions change depending on the type of topology assumed. certain topologies allow global FTL. but space topology can be altered. for example you can change the permitivity of space by cycling a a AC field through it. "permitivity" is the degree of resistance space has to being curved. so you can more easily alter the curvature and hence topology of space under certain circumstances. altering the curvature can result in warps and wormholes.
wormholes are postulated to be involved with gravity and with entanglement. in entanglement information is transmitted faster than light can travel in normal space.

there are so many ways to "violate" the "laws of physics" without of course actually doing so that it isn't even funny. anything that can be done does not violate the rules of physics though it may violate our understanding of them.
