I learned about this on Dr. Mercolas website. I lost about 20lbs in two weeks. I have unfortunately gained it back due to moving to an area with harsher winters resulting in less physical activity for me than I used to get during California winters. On top of an increase in sugary coffee drinks.
I really should do this again. Especially, since I had such great results the first time.
Here is a tip that worked for me if you are struggling with blood sugar drops during the first couple of days. Snack on something like Beef Jerky or almonds, if you feel like you are getting light headed from low blood sugar, with in a couple days your blood sugar will stabilize and you won't need too.edit on 16-2-2014 by calstorm because: (no reason given)

I'm definitely going to give this a shot. I've been exercising regularly but have had a lot of trouble with the eating part. It sounds a little like Ramadan except I think they can only eat at night instead of the day.

This can work, but, be careful with it. Going too long without food can actually have the opposite effect, in several ways.
1. You can push your body into "starvation mode", where the body goes into a panic state, not sure when the next meal will come, and starts storing more food as fat. Eating lower carb while doing this type of diet is vital, exactly because of this. I would advise trying to keep the carbs no higher than 40 per day, at most.
2. For some people, skipping meals that are not used to it, can cause binge eating, or overeating at mealtimes. Again, lower carb and healthy fats will help stem this, because fats and proteins together satiate appetite.
Many people are so frightened of ingesting fats, they eat everything "low fat" which has sugar in in it repair the flavor, or they avoid fats all together.
Dietary fat, coupled with proteins and lower carb and an active lifestyle actually induces weight loss.
If people are just cautious of the above, this can be very functional for weightloss, and is simply like the on-going weight loss portion of the Atkins diet, just skipping the induction period.

DIEts are dangerous. Eat healthy foods, eat less food and exercise. That is only diet anyone needs.
