There you go. This site is supposed to be a place where people don't beat you into silence just because they find the way you're expressing yourself disagreeable or depressing. I couldn't care less about positivity on a conspiracy site. When I come here I want to see people who aren't afraid to say what they're thinking.

All I can say is, at 63 I really like the internet. I have learned more from arguing, proving, disproving points, and losing arguments, than I ever learned in school. And it is real easy to ferret out the immature, smart mouthed ones, but they gotta learn too.

I have to agree with you both, but some members can't or won't accept opposing rational views and respond inappropriately or in an uncivil manner. So, depending upon the level of bad behaviour, shutting it down seems to be the only viable solution. Everyone to their rooms for a timeout to reflect - and/or - serious offending visitors are shown the door. I happen to understand and agree with this process because if mutual reasonable debate were possible, it would happen within the thread early on and not escalate into a mess.

Thank you for this interesting philosophical viewpoint delivered amidst somewhat hypocritical atmosphere.

I think it's pretty cool to ponder - it was once pointed out in Seinfeld, that people often get this sense of 'wasting their lives', but then they start thinking; WHAT should they be doing that's NOT wasting of life? Can you have coffee with your friends?

I have often thought about this - I mean, who WOULDN'T want to do 'only important things' in life. But what is important?

How can we even define something as 'waste' or 'not waste' if we don't have a clear understanding of what the opposite would be?

Why would giving people insights, viewpoints, information and corrections be a waste of life? They might actually learn something they will carry on through many lifetimes.

Why would something else be less of a waste? Is meditation waste of life? What about eating? Soon we will question every single thing and decision we made. Was it a waste to clean this room when it's just gonna get dirty again?

Should I have been feeding some homeless man who would've died without my help, but now he can score some amphetamin and kill a young couple instead?

See, even helping is problematic, if you don't know the consequences of your help. By helping one man, you might actually cause detriment to five others. You never know - by giving someone 50 bucks, they might buy cigarettes and booze and pollute the air, cause someone to have an asthma attack, and then in their drunken stupor, push people off the edge of something or drive a car into a crowd.

So what is not waste? Is creating things a waste? Probably. What's the point of creating something, even if someone might enjoy your creation, in the end, it's just a meaningless thing in the Universe. And is 'joy' meaningful anyway? What if they were MEANT to be sad so they could pay their karmic debts and now you interrupted all that?

Soon nothing is meaningful, everything is a waste, and then where you are? I have thought about this a lot, and I have not yet found an answer to 'what would NOT be a waste', because you can basically explain everything to be a waste - I mean, maybe I am waste, my whole existence is just wasting the resources of the Universe. Now what?
