In the novel, 'The Man Who Sold The Moon' (from 1939!), there is a short story at the beginning, "Let There Be Light", in which a Dr. developes
something similar to a solar panel. But not quite a solar panel. Originally intened to make light with a power input, it actually also made power with
a light input. It uses certain crystaline structures and is based on harmonics and such, but thats not the point.
The point being, that, yes we've had solar collectors for years, but now with the OLED and PLED and SLED technologies being developed, this 'free
light and power' story he wrote 65 years ago, is comeing to fruition. Have a look at the Kodak and Seimens work on various LED's and Organic LED's
useing DNA and other protiens to make light. Amazing stuff.
UNCANNY. Check out

I know this is old news, but I just read that book, and was dumb founded. My parents used to give me crap for reading so much Sci-Fi, but I don't
think they realize all the contributions to technology it has made.
1939!
