Bitter, Party of one.


I threw the flowers on the ground,
tossed with thoughts of huge regret.
My true love I thought I'd found,
But I haven't found her yet.

The card I held in my hand,
That took me days to find,
I tossed it in the garbage can,
Love is so unkind.

The teddy bear I bought for you,
I was gonna pull off its head,
Because you broke my heart in two,
I stabbed it to death instead.

The chocolates were a tasty treat,
I bought for my valentines,
I threw them down onto the street,
Jumped on them several times.

The ring that I had picked for you,
I was gonna propose today.
I threw into the river blue,
It quickly washed away.

Now that I have done those things,
My heart feels so much better.
With all the pain that true love brings,
I'll stay away from it forever.

One does understand what true love is will have his small ego crushed. Your poem should tell you that you never had her.

To all those lonely people on valentines day. If you think you are a loser because of it, maybe you are but when you realize that what you want is quite different than what you need the notion shall slip away.

Be useful to the world and dont worry about pleasing the whims of your ego and weak emotional i.q.

I don't know...I've been married to the same man for twenty years. Happily married. I look forward to spending every waking moment I can with him. He still sends shivers down my spine when he touches me. I still have deep, loving thoughts about him....and can't imagine a moment without him in my life.

If that's not true love, I guess I have never known it. But it feels like it is....

Keep at it TDawg! When you find the right one....all those heart aches are worth it. They truly are. This poem is about how I used to feel. Not about how I feel today. You will find "the one" and all that searching will be worth it. But you can't find it if you never look.

First date in three years, and I can count all the rest on two hands. They were all married...not going there.

So, my fingers are crossed. After that, I guess I will be resigned to internet or speed dating....

Thanks, I had a good teacher as always, I don't care if I win. I just like to write for these things. Some of the contests are pretty challenging! And this one has some great, well written poetry in it. Like....I dunno....
