Monks produced gamma wave activity more powerful and of higher amplitude than any documented case in history.

Qigong masters were able to emit powerful bursts of infrasonic waves, 100 to 1000 times as strong as average individuals.

The monks, thinly clad, were put in a room where the temperature was 40 degrees Fahrenheit (4 degrees Celsius). ...The monks, however, remained warm and dried the sheets with their bodies.

When I began meditating I noticed very unusual bodily effects. Mostly pulses running through my nervous system. They were generally painful. However, the effect faded over time which was a good thing. I've also tried meditating in ways that really have no basis on what I know other people are doing, and have had even stranger effects on my nervous system. In specific, slowly traveling waves of something going up my spine then into my head.

Recently I've had sudden waves of extreme pleasure during states of half-sleep I've had are because I've been doing custom meditations in which I "radiate love, joy, and peace". The joy part of the equation is very energetic and has caused sudden waves of extreme pleasure at seemingly random times during sleep but not usually the meditation itself although that may change at some point as I get more experience. Obviously that meditation is changing my brain wave patterns significantly.

Meditations result in profound physical changes to the body, and the linked article really highlights that well. Have you experienced any physiological effects from meditation? Please post here if so.

I can't emit infrasonic waves. 1000 times 0 is 0.

If molecules vibrate, and vibration causes waves, and you are made up of molecules, aren't you emitting infrasonic waves?

I actually don't "meditate" in the sense applied usually in these topics.
But I do "meditate" in the sense of "thinking about something in depth", sometimes.

It seems like a mostly unnecessary ritual, but I can understand how it could aid some people with relaxation and relief of stress, so I won't say they shouldn't do it. To each their own.

I am also very skeptical of the claims made, especially considering the history of hoaxes about the exact subject.

Well, it gets pretty complicated.

As far as producing very low frequency sound? Nope, I'm not.

You don't even have to meditate (on a regular basis)...

I remember one time I was camping out in the desert, and it was colder than I planned for at night. My body was freezing. Then I remembered hearing stories about these monks that can warm their bodies with their mind. So I gave it a shot.

I was just thinking about my natural body heat. Picturing in my mind where my body heat was coming from. I pictured my organs and cells producing heat, and my blood transferring the heat to all parts my flesh, and imagined my flesh wrapped around my bones keeping my bones warm. I then imagined the warmth emitting out of my body from the center outwards. However, I didn't just imagine it and think about it, I felt it. I was focusing on my real body heat, and paying attention to it (most of the time we just ignore it). After a good 5 minutes of just really concentrating on my body heat, the skin on my legs started to burn!

Have you ever jumped into a warm shower with really cold feet, and your skin on your feet felt like it was on fire? Well that's how my legs started to feel. I didn't take any temperature readings, so I don't know if I was actually warming up more than normal, or if my mind just started to overrule matter, but sure enough I got really warm, and stopped shivering and got comfortable. I have used that technique plenty of times since then, and I swear by it, it works.

As for infrasonic waves... I think that might be a misunderstanding.

But, can you receive them?

This is key. Receive. After that, baby steps.

Unless, of course, you know everything there is to know.

We should have a sleep over! I can host. You'll just love it here.

Bring something nice, to smoke.

No wonder you are so bitter. Ask God for some help. You'd be shocked, well beyond surprise.

I have never been more serious.

It's never too late...

What a heartless comment! You're missing at least the largest human infrasonic emitter, which is your heart.

2.1 Infrasonic Cardiac Signals
Radar seismocardiogram (R-SCG) belongs to a category of cardiac signals that have their main components in the infrasonic range (less than 20 Hz) and reflect the mechanical function of the heart as a pump. During the past century, extensive research has been conducted on interpretation of these signals in terms of their relationship to cardiovascular dynamics and their possible application in cardiac abnormality diagnostics. Signals such as ballistocardiogram (BCG), seismocardiogram (SCG), apexcardiogram (ACG) and radar seismocardiogram reflect the displacement, velocity, or acceleration of the body in response
to the heart beating.

2.1.1 Ballistocardiogram (BCG)
BCG signals closely reflect the strength of myocardial contraction and function of the heart as a pump

Most types of BCG involve a platform upon which a subject lies supinely. BCG systems were categorized by their natural frequency with respect to the heart‘s own natural frequency of about 1 Hz. Those BCG apparatuses with higher natural frequencies of 10 Hz to 15 Hz are high frequency BCG (HF-BCG). Those with natural frequencies of approximately 1 Hz are low frequency (LF-BCG) and those lower than 1 Hz are ultra-low frequency (ULF-BCG).

Other infrasonic emitters identified are blood pathways.

Preliminary studies and measurements confirm that these systems can also be used to monitor cerebral blood flow, arterial blood flow and blood flow in bones. Compared to the conventional ultrasound methods, Microwave Doppler radar offers the advantage of ability to detect blood flow under bony tissues

I'm no anatomy expert but I believe muscle tissue would be another likely human source of infrasonic waves.

The study cited in the OP is found at www.chi.us... and says about the test:

The test which was done by a low frequency sound testing system made in Denmark and was conducted in a noiseproof room in the Institute of Sound and Electronics under the Ministry of Electronic Industry. The background noise in the room was lower than 30 dB (decibel) . The microphone was hung in the air over Laogong (P-8, center of palm) at a distance of 2cm with no contact.

I would bet anyone who has access to a good sound studio could measure their infrasonic vibrations.

So the Epoch Times is owned or fianced by Falun Darfa? I didn't see anywhere in the article where they were trying to push a cult on me. What I did find was an article on meditation with links to University studies on brainwaves during meditation.

After reading about meditations’ potentially significant influence on the brain, many readers are probably at least a little bit curious about how to implement meditation into their own lives. As a word of caution, the possibility that there was a pre-existing difference in brain function between the monks and the novices in the study can’t be ruled out. In other words, there may have been a confound in the study because individuals who have high levels of gamma wave activity to begin with may be more likely to become monks. However, the researchers are fairly confident that this is not the case because the monks who had spent the most years meditating had the highest level of gamma wave activity.

Stanford.edu

Instead of the constant knee-jerk poo poo responses from the typical suspects, why not simply engage in the finer aspects of the topic? Like what is being discussed in the university studies.

I understood that the design for building cathedrals was supposedly to change the brain waves so to improve the uptake of the teachings and make the congregation more suspectible to the influence of the priest etc. My memory which is getting appalling says its from Alpha to Beta waves but I can't be sure.

Its very interesting though about meditation because I noticed that a lot of the esoteric teachings use meditation as a tool and the tree of life is used for meditative purposes.

When I did use to go to church I remember the vicar and his group of elders telling everyone that they were to avoid all the so-called Eastern weird leanings and certainly not to entertain things like meditation and modern and ancient healing techniques and practices. It struct me strange at the time and suddenly the penny dropped - the church likes to place itself between the individual and God so the personal link to God doesn't exist. Sure we can pray but praying is petitioning and its the church that tells us what God wants etc. Meditation for many who are practised at it is empowerering and grounding and I can see the reason why the Monks would work at it daily.

I think its great to have discovered this because it goes to something I have always wondered about, Christ's teaching about man being able to 'move mountains with our thoughts'. I suspect we have a lot more mental power than we have ever credited ourselves with although with the distractions and pressures of today, it is likely to get less and less used. - which may ensure we have to rely on blind faith for hope.

Meditation can do a lot of things. Can help focus, relive stress, help with circulation of the blood and breathing, and a few other things that I'm not aware about.

Idk, about Gamma waves though, since they are supposedly to be active or in gear, when the mind is most active. They are the fastest of the brain waves.

Usually meditation is supposed to slow down the waves, to the point where you go past the Alpha(Which is more so the relaxation and meditative wave) and slow down your body. Requiring little air as you down into deeper states. Also, seeing as some studies these days are saying that the brain learns to get better. I just wonder what makes such a transition from faster waves that are meant to go slower in practice, then go back up to the more active waves, with even more waves.

As for infra sounds...Never heard of it.

The monks and immense body heat...Heard of, and the feat has attracted scientists for a few decades.
Meditation would make one hell of a complicated science.
