WAR: Suspected torture houses found in Falluja

CNN and New York Times journalists have been shown houses that were believed to be used as torture and holding cells for hostages taken by the group formerly known as Tawid and Jihad, now renamed to Al Qaeda in Iraq. This is the same group that has claimed responsibility for much of the bloodshed in the so-called Sunni Triangle.

US forces say they have found about 20 houses in Falluja where hostages may have been held and tortured.

American reporters were shown two houses from which soldiers said they had removed handcuffs, shackles, blood-caked knives and bayonets.

Earlier during the Fulluja offensive 4 Iraqi men were discovered and freed by US-led troops - one taxi driver and three civilian contractors. They had apparently been beaten with steel pipes and chained to radiators:
