Came across this and saw that it hadn't yet been posted. Thought I would share it with our subject matter experts here on ATS.

Archaeologists working near the ancient settlement of Edfu, in southern Egypt, have uncovered a step pyramid that dates back about 4,600 years, predating the Great Pyramid of Giza by at least a few decades.

This is very interesting, The age of the great pyramids at Giza is a hotly contested subject. Different theorists have proposed ages of the 4 - 5,000 yr range mentioned in the article to upwards of 100,000 years and many others in between.

I find the fact that pyramids are still being found in Egypt in this day and age fascinating. Personally I am not very big into Egyptology, I'm just generally interested in ancient civilizations and wanted to share this here.

Here is what the site looked like before the excavation began.

And here is a fairly recent thread on the pyramids I think is interesting, some of you may want to check it out if you haven't had an opportunity yet.

I just saw that.

But seeing as that other member put next to zero effort into that thread, hence beating mine by 10 minutes.

I think this one should stand.

The Mods will sort it out. Maybe one can be moved to a different forum.

Good luck
ETA: Second line, also: To add to your thread, these pyrmids are pretty awesome. I wonder when mainstream archeology is going to throw the OS out the window and revise our accepted line of events. We've got people entering the Americas thousands of years before they were supposed to using methods that were thought weren't possible, we got older and older ancient sites that predate ancient Sumeria, and many more things. Yet archeology keeps spewing the official story that Sumer is the birthplace of civilization and the first Americans crossed the Bering Strait. I'm not saying they need to make things up to explain it all, but man I think them saying "F## if I know..." would be more accurate then what they say now.

I tend to agree with you.

It seems that every other month now some site is being found that contradicts the generally accepted sequence of events for the distribution of humans.

I won't be surprised at all if within the next 100 years or so we start finding signs of civilizations on Antarctica.
