Anyone Know Why DVD Switched Language

I have had a DVD since 2009, it has English, Spanish and French on it.

Suddenly it will only play french no matter what language setting but the written language is all still English.

Can anyone tell me why and if there is someway to fix it?

I can find nothing anywhere about a DVD playing fine in English for years and then switching to French...weird.

Guess no techies here either.

Did ya try giving the DVD a good cleaning... those French DVD's sometimes go along time without one,,take a cloth & dampen it with some wine, a '53 bordeaux if ya have it,, jk

settings that ya can try & change on your DVD player ,,set it to NTSC (US,Asia) ...y might have set to PAL(Europe)

anyone learning french and may have set the defaults to french in the household? other than that have a google for your make/model of player and how to change its language as it may of just had a 'brain fart' due to perhaps the CMOS battery going low?

I'm wondering if it has to do with your DVD players ability to display the language because the disc has a different region code than your DVD players hardware is programmed for? Is this the same DVD player you used last time playing the disc?

Thanks, no just me and my husband and no French speaking. All other DVD's still work fine so I wouldn't think it is the player. I guess i will just have to buy a new DVD, just seems so weird for it to do this.

I think it is the same player which still works fine for all other DVD's. It is possible I have not watched it since getting a new one about a year ago.I will look for the manual on it.

I found information about the codes online but it can't be that and I checked just to be sure it is made for the US market only, only speaks french, it does not switch to Spanish or English but the written language on it stays English.

I do think this is the only DVD I have seen that includes a French translation option. Still I bought it in 2009 and used it many times before.

You can change country codes on DVD a limited number of times and then you're stuck with it. 5 times I believe is max.

Be careful about any country code changing settings; you're changing the country code of the DVD player, not the DVD itself, & in most cases, you only get to do that 5 times before being stuck with your 5th & last choice. If other DVD's play okay in English, your player's country code setting is okay.

Well thank you everyone, I tried the DVD in every which way for several days but today I put it in and tried every button on the remote, never messed with them before just the DVD settings menu, suddenly the DVD is English, I hope I didn't mess it up for all the other DVDs, haven't checked.

All this is new to me!
