Maybe we could should have had a ' citizen police force ' with 2 or 3 year ' term limits '. Professional detectives and so forth with no authority to detain or arrest... ?

Even the best cops seem to develop an ' us and them ' psychology ( sociopathic ? ) . Oh well - too late now , I suppose. Just dreaming aloud ...

It's called: "The Thin Blue Line" and it means cops before other people...without exceptions.
It means unwritten (and sometimes written) procedures called: C.Y.A. or "Cover Your Arse" embedded in law enforcement doctrine.
It's been pointed out before that bad cops come primarily from bad trainers. So, my question is: Where are all these unstable trainers coming from and who keeps approving them for service?

I believe this video has been posted here before.

It was not a police officer, it was a confidential informant(CI) who planted the crack. However I think it is dirty that a police force use a CI to get dirt on a business. CI's generally can not be trusted for one...

I could go on about how using CI's and deep under cover agents to entrap people in the drug game is wrong and against the Constitution, but that rant deserves its own thread.
