Boats are great. I like coastal towns. Maybe someday I will own my own boat or even a house boat and sail around on the ocean.

First, you have to row a little boat.

The reality of a life afloat is NOT what you think it is.

I had more like a fleet of boats with my ex-partner!
We had a Skipper 17 for day/week end sailing, a 28' Taymar twin masted (live aboard), Shakespear speed boat for platting about on calm days, mirror dinghy.

I don't have any of them any more, I personally totally refurbed the Skip.

I am now considering investing in a narrow boat or dutch barge. First as a source of income, but also as a 'Plan B' once my son leaves home in a couple of years. I'm done with all the sea stuff, and fancy exploring the UK's waterways...the Dutch barge would be a little more prohibitive and would involve going out to sea to get to other parts here.

I would have lived on a boat if I had a butler a mechanic a couple of well trained heavily armed security guards,my girl friend and my pets plus a vegetable garden and a water treating system...I would have also needed musical instruments,a lap top and some drugs (legal of course),,,do not forget a valid passport.

I own a 32' sloop and although I have spent extended periods on board I don't "live" on her.

To move aboard permanently I would have to get rid of 99% of everything I own,

That just ain't gonna happen.
