LAX officers left scene before shooting

Minutes before a gunman opened fire in a Los Angeles International Airport terminal last fall, killing a security screener and wounding three other people, the two armed officers assigned to the area left for breaks without informing a dispatcher as required.

The Los Angeles Airport Police Department officers were outside Terminal 3 when authorities say Paul Ciancia opened fire with an assault rifle, two law enforcement officials said. The officials requested anonymity, saying they were briefed on the shooting but were not authorized to speak publicly about the investigation.

As terrified travelers dived for cover, TSA officers — who are unarmed — fled the screening area without hitting a panic button or using a landline to call for help.

This is an interesting development... wonder why it took this long to come out...

Also, I guess all the security cameras must have been off at LAX that day because they haven't released a frame of surveillance camera footage...

Imagine all the firemen taking a break at the same time. Or all the doctors. Wanna rob the bank? Just do it when all the cops are at lunch.

I wouldnt be shocked at the existance of a set-up or conspiracy but at the same time I wouldnt be shocked by the total bureaucratic ineptitude that would allow for the all the guards on site to go off duty simultaneously.

In short, stupidity doesnt shock me.

My question -

Does their policy require the officers to notify dispatch they are taking a meal break or does it require them to get approval from a commissioned supervisor before taking a break?

The reason I ask -
The guy was intent on killing people that day. Trying to find someone to blame is not going to being back the TSA officer. If all that is needed is notification to dispatch Im not seeing how this could be a considered factor into events that day.

My department requires we notify dispatch, however we don't need a supervisor to approve us going on meal break. Im just wondering if the meal break can actually fit into this scenario, if that makes sense?

LAX has one of the largest police departments in the country for an airport. They have like 1600 officers, and while the work in conjunction with the LAPD, they are not a part of the LAPD (although they share human resource / training with LAPD).

Is it just coincidence that so many 'undercover' cops would have been the closest to the scene? They moved the uniformed cops away from the scene and brought the undercovers in. The fix was in from the beginning.

Were they undercover or were they federal agents? Air Marshalls / DEA / Immigration / etc all have a presence at major airports.

LAX is a major airport.

In addition to US Law Enforcement, there will be armed officers from other countries thru their version of Air Marshal programs.

There was an incident a few years back where a guy started cracking off rounds in LAX. In that incident an armed Israeli officer / marshal dropped the guy.

Perhaps real TSA wounded were told to "stand down" as well resulting in the biggest joke ever witnessed on live TV, that of an obvious dummy being carted in a wheelchair to an ambulance that never goes anywhere. Yes........ It's a dummy. Anyone that thinks there is even a remote chance that is a real person needs glasses. Well, and a sense of humor.

I have another question on this... Was this coincidence or cause and effect? I don't mean a conspiracy with the cops ..but did they JUST HAPPEN to go off duty before he came in shooting ..or was he waiting for a change in status for the armed presence there?

I suppose if I blew fuses and went postal, I'd look for a way to minimize contact with people able to return fire ..including watching for routine rotations and meal breaks to be taken. When the cats away...well.. no playing involved here, but you get what I mean.

The random people in the terminal have no idea of what happened. In case you didn't notice, care enough or pay attention to the details, multiple eye witness testimony of the shooter from multiple witnesses did not match in any way shape or form the clothes the picture of the "shooter" was wearing. Eye witness testimony from the scene describes plain clothes people shooting at plain clothes people in chaotic fashion, conflicting testimony about the type and scope of the weapon used and completely contradictory statements about what the "shooter" was wearing.

And um, well.... It's a dummy in the wheelchair so, ya.......

This video from eyewitnesses doesn't seem to jive with the pic of the shooter



Notice how nobody knows anything is wrong until the police start randomly yelling at everyone?



Check 2:50 for what the description of the shooter was wearing from a completely different person, navy blue dark clothing. Look anything like the picture of Ciancia that we were shown? At all?

Wait! Did that say that police officers not only didn't shoot first for no reason but left before any shots were fired? LOL unbelievable. Who knew?

There is a reason you don't hear about the "LAX incident" anymore on TV. There is a reason that there isn't a real conversation or budding legislation about the TSA being armed or sworn in as an actual law enforcement branch of the federal government. Does anyone know why that is? After all, an incident like this would seem to demand those exact actions. I mean, an active shooter, a domestic terrorist, charging into one if not the largest airport in the United States for the sole purpose of gunning down TSA agents. Carrying a note of his intent no less of his hatred for TSA, why haven't the laws been looked into to give the TSA more control and weapons to deal with the ever increasing threat they face?

You would think after a decade, after 10 plus years of not apprehending one terrorist or having any credible impact at all on public safety and drawing close to 10 billion dollars as an annual budget we would have just given them police powers and AR-15s right? I mean, why not, they perform an invaluable service to the public right?

I mean, recordings reminding you to not mock or question the TSA under threat of harassment or arrest on loud speakers at the airport is money well spent, patting down your 80 year old grandmother and groping your 3 year old daughter is just American as apple pie and begging for illusory safety is worth a good dose of radiation or an invasive pat down is just a sign o the times right?

I mean, it's not like the federal government is running guns to Mexican drug cartels. It's not like we are funding the same terrorists organizations the TSA is supposed to be robbing our personal liberties to protect us from right? I mean, whats a little violation of the 4th Amendment between friends if you have nothing to hide right?

I mean, we just should all get with the "program" right? So...... Where is the video of this happening again? I mean, this time around, we can't hide behind the excuse of dead children and the depraved public wanting to see tiny corpses. Where is the footage from the HD cams that lace the entire LAX compound from every angle? Where......... Anyone?

Oh, wait, nevermind, we already got some of it, the dummy in the wheelchair. I guess after that, they probably thought it best to "hold onto" additional footage. Probably a good choice.

Take my parents for example. They watch one of the 3 or 4 national MSM news outlets. They saw that footage from their comfy couch, all shaky and helicopter-shot. To them it was 3 blue dots escorting another blue dot to an ambulance. It's on the nightly news, so it must be real. I try to breach the subject that the MSM distorts and lies, but they can't even comprehend a world in which that could be true...let alone a staged attack.

So goes 90% of Americans. And I am being optimistic on the 90%.

That is pretty lame, installing a world wide surveillance grid that
records your own criminal corruption and fraud. That you then have
to make excuses for when people are smart enough to ask. Somebody
just isn't all that bright.
