Humans have an inbuilt self destruction mechanism and it functions on the level of the mind. We all know that a positive mentality has positive health promoting effects on the body so it concludes that negative thoughts impact your health in a negative way.

In the early days when a cure for people suffering from severe epileptic fits was sought a surprising discovery was made. Epileptic seizures were seen as an electrical storm that started in one part of the brain and quickly spread throughout the brain resulting in complete chaos in the nervous system. Surgeons in those early days theorized that in very severe cases cutting the connection which allows the right hemisphere of the brain to communicate with the left hemisphere might contain this electrical storm to one hemisphere and therefore lessen the severity of the epileptic seizures. What happened to those who had this procedure was later termed "alien hand syndrome".

It is as though whenever you have a positive thought automatically a negative thought arises which contradicts it and this became apparent in those who had the connection between the two hemispheres cut. Your mind is at a constant battle within, one force is positive and the other is negative, one wants to help you the other wants to destroy you, literally self destruction!

I think its only when you begin meditating that you will become aware of these contradictory thoughts within yourself. I noticed it in myself only when I started meditating and thinking positive thoughts of health towards myself, suddenly a stray thought wishing myself harm and ill health would come out of nowhere! This would shock me and I knew that such thoughts of self destruction must be the ultimate cause of all our illnesses and health issues, Unguarded thoughts, nothing is as destructive to your health then your own inbuilt desire to self destruct!

We could say you remain healthy for as long as your own positive side is winning over your own negative side but once the balance is flipped those negative thoughts will manifest physically with some health issue.

You could be correct .... but I really doubt it. Our health issues have to do with genetics and environment in addition to our spiritual energy. I don't think anyone can 'think themselves well'. I know plenty of happy and/or spiritual people who are struck down by chronic or severe illness. They stay that way no matter their own 'positive thoughts'; no matter their prayer life and/or meditation; no matter who else is sending positive energy their way via prayers etc.

I have a positive mind towards myself, yet these thoughts even exist in me so most probably in your "spiritual" friends too. As I said I don't think most people are even aware of this until they start to meditate, only then you discover that humans have a self destruction mechanism built in.

Yup. It really sucks. It's Paul's thorn in the side, it's the adversary.

Don't be too quick to knock this yet. Research into alternative forms of healing, such as mental healing, scientific prayer, occult methods, etc., always proves extremely fascinating. The issue is that is doesn't work 100% of the time - I guess the same goes for modern medicine too. My mother always promotes positive thinking as a precursor to good health. She learned something of the manner of this technique through a book on Rosicrucianism and effectively used creative visualization to dissolve a foot tumor. I know that may seem to be one thing, however, she had told a friend of this method, and he had developed a large, unattractive growth on his face (for some reason I don't know why he didn't have it surgically removed). Using the techniques of creative visualization and positive thinking for about a month, he was washing his face and noticed that the growth had simply come undone, with no scarring and never reappeared.

I too had a strange growth come-up on my leg when I was a teenager. I didn't think much of it until it began to enlarge and become painful to the touch. I thought to give the method a fair chance, and wouldn't you know it - one day I noticed the tumor had vanished.

As Hermes Trismegistus wrote in the Emerald Tablet, "As above, so below." The content of the Emerald Tablet has myriad interpretations, and the above may be interpreted to explain that the quality and content of our thoughts has a definite impact on our personal health and environment. I have effectivey used creative visualization countless times and always stand in total awe when I find myself in the enviroment or circumstance that had only been a mental-construct just some time before.

Here I recommend some great reading material from a variety of occut traditions:

Creative Visualization, by Melita Denning and Osborne Phillips
The Sermon on the Mount, by Emmet Fox
Wisdom of the Mystic Masters, by Joseph J. Weed
Mental Poisoning, by Harvey Spencer Lewis
Liber Librae, by Aleister Crowley
Occult Fundamentals and Spiritual Unfoldment, by Paul Foster Case
Black Magic, by Michael Aquino
Hands on Chaos Magic, by Andrieh Vitimus

Yes I had thought of the christian symbolism of the angel on you right and the devil on your left, it would seam that devil is a part of your own mind and not to be sought outside yourself. To conquer your daemon you must conquer yourself, you must trample the serpent under your foot!

or in other words, your positive aspect must absolutely dominate, rule over your own negative aspect.

There could also be some truth behind the belief that the right hand is good but the left hand bad, would be interesting to find out if people with this alien hand syndrome had a predominance of left hand being the bad hand!

Yes it is part of our minds, but it can reach outside of our skulls just as our consciousness can. It can reach out and manipulate circumstances and other people in order to weaken our resolve.

If you and your conscience are in agreement, you can stay healthier. It will not protect you from everything but it will protect you from a lot of illness. When you fall out of grace with your conscience, your conscience sabatages you. Our conscience is the mind of the primordial part of the brain, the part formed when we are young. Although connecting to the primordial brain is hard, it can be done through meditation and other things. Look at someone who has alzheimer disease who is running off of this. It is the last part to go.

How far did those with alzheimers stray from who they were before the disease. Some kids were crabby kids and turned out good, others were timid or playful. This is what is stored in this part of the brain. We can change though, but remember the morals that are contained there are very strong. Why do people make mistakes so often when doing something dishonest. It is usually because they are basicly honest inside because of something they saw when they were young.

The subconscious or conscience can sabatage us to make us sick. It can make us desire to eat ice cream as punishment for doing something we should not have done. It can tell us to eat peanut butter without jelly, something that creates toxic effects in many people. We punish ourselves more than anyone punishes us.

Yep. I agree on your topic. Damaging thought can bring on physical damages and syndromes...psychosomatic repercussions. I personally suffer such a disorder of the gut brought about by past circumstance. Most form unhealthy pathways between your brain and a specific body system, essentially your mind is at war with a system and the immune system agrees....not good stuff.

Not related at all if that is your hand in the avatar guard your own health and take care of yourself, disposition to issues and all.

Peace and thanks for a very interesting read.

I am interested in this 'alien hand syndrome.' The video you provided was terrifying and corny, but doesn't it sound similar to those familiar cases of spirit possession? I wonder at the effectiveness of engaging this other 'foreign' part of the consciousness by some occult manner, and then either expel it, or compelling it to submission - sort of like an exorcism (just like it, actually). I'd like to give this a try. Perhaps disease or unhealthy mutation of the cell-tissue would respond similarly.

One theory is that Mind, being the epicenter of consciousness of the entire organism, and in the event of disease, must exert some specific amount of will-power, or psychic (mental) energy, so as to compel the cellular tissue to behave in accordance with its function, as the cell's consciousness, while although limited, is endowed by the consciousness and vital life force of the very being it composes. As such, it is a sort of microcosm of the organism, and reflects a state of imbalance that may be rooted in the consciousness of the organism.

This train of thought leads me to think of Christian Science. The underlying belief in this sect is as follows: The Creator looked at his Creation and said, 'it's all good.' Thus, pain, suffering, imbalance and disease are but illusions masking the true nature of reality, which is one of love, peace, balance and harmony. Christian Scientists thus believe that should some dis-ease become manifest, it is but truly a manifestation of a lack of spiritual understanding at some level of the consciousness. Being that we are endowed with the same creative abilities as God itself (having made us in it's image), it must follow that we are endowed with the consciousness of this being as well, and may re-manifest (or unfold) the Divine Reality of Peace, love, etc., from the illusion of suffering - if we will entertain mental states that are in harmony with the vibrations of this Divine Reality.

In short, their form of 'prayer' consists in reorienting thought patterns (and consciousness itself) from that of suffering, to that of love, which is the great panacea.

While I am not a Christian Scientist, I have read various testimonials regarding their healings, and I believe them to be nothing short of miraculous. However, I am aware of various tragedies that have befell some of the 'die-hard' fundamentalists of this sect, who, for instance, refusing to give their children medicine on account of their belief that God will heal their afflictions, end up getting arrested for child-abuse due to their kids dying over some common ailment that would have been treatable by a physician.

My view is that a person should explore all methods of treatment that are available, and while mental healing and prayer have their merits, physicians are valuable for a reason - and not just because they can prescribe vicodin.

Well I guess exorcism is really a form of hypnotic suggestion so I guess you could use hypnotism to try to subjugate your negative aspect. You could also use meditation and positive visualization (some would say that's a form of self hypnotism).

No I don't have this syndrome, I simply used it to demonstrate that we all have a duel nature (both positive and negative). The only difference in these people is that their negative self becomes more apparent. If you meditate you will observe directly your own negative aspect that perhaps you never knew you had.

Think of it like this, if someone does something bad to you, you might in your mind say something about them, if you had Tourette syndrome you would not be able to keep it in your mind, you would shout whatever you thought out.

In the same way we all have this double minded condition but in these people it manifests more strongly.
