I searched the newer titles, but did not see this being posted. If it has, my apologies. The MODS can remove it.

I know we have people who specialize in whether a picture has been tampered with on ATS, so I wanted to share this to see if anyone can debunk this photo, offering proof this photo is a hoax.

www.dailymail.co.uk...

A ghostly figure has been caught on camera standing outside Parliament on New Year's Eve.
The spooky image shows a transparent figure dressed in modern clothing gazing out over the Thames near Westminster Bridge in London.
Professional photographer Jules Annan took the image on New Year's Eve - but only noticed the ghostly apparition when he got home.
Among the experts he has consulted is paranormal investigator Lee Roberts, owner of Haunted Events UK.

If this is a real ghost, I feel sorry for him. He looks lonely.

I think it is a girl ghost with Ugg boots and a round bum.
Looks fake to me and Dailyfail doesn't light me up with wonder.

I feel sorry for him if it is a him for wearing Ugg boots.

More likely as it's night time it would be a long exposure (several seconds or longer),and the "ghost" walked into the shot, stood still for just a second and then moved on.But having said that, the water isn't all that blurred which it should be for long exposures like this.

My partners cousin lost her boyfriend in jan 2013. He fell into the thames and died. He was about 20 with thick dark hair. I don't know what he was wearing though

The only way this could not be true is if there was some sort of computer program to modify pictures.

Those boots don't look too "ghostly". I'd say, not lonely, just having a look before moving on. I did just that this summer. We were staying right there at the Marriott that's now in what once was I think, the main government offices as Parlement is right across the river and Westminster Bridge (for like 70 years). Nice area!

Could well be some stunt to get a rumour started very much like the television show 'The Happenings.

Maybe not?

It's nice the photographer was able to get such a centered HD shot.

I'm sorry, but this looks extremely faked.

if you read the comments though someone points out that the long exposure would of caught someone walking in

"I have read some comments about this on a photographic site. Mr. Annan at first said this was an exposure of 1/25th of a second, but it was pointed out that the car making the headlight trails on the bridge would have had to be doing about 5,000 mph to cover that distance in that time. Mr. Annan then admitted his exposure was 25 seconds, not 125th of a second, so, in spite of his claims, it was a very long exposure. It seems that someone strolled in, paused for about 10 seconds, then strolled on past. The truth comes out, mystery solved, and no ghost."

An hoaxer then? It didn't take long to call him either. Why, as an experienced photographer, would he say initially that the exposure time was 1/25th second when it was a 25 second exposure?

I find that an awfully strange decision. His reputation is now torn to bits and has been made a laughing stock

Yeah, it's a hoax.
A few odd things to note;

1. If its a single 25 second exposure, there should not be such well defined waves/ripples. It should be a much more even whispy effect, this perhaps makes be think it's perhaps two layers in photoshop combined with transparency rather than one long 25 second exposure.

2. If it was a person walking in and stopping during that exposure, it should not be quite so sharp and well defined unless it was a very deliberate attempt for the person to freeze like a statue.

3. Whats with the extreme colour value changes on the upper left water?

4. So much is wrong with the pic that anyone who thinks this is a ghost should buy the associated T-Shirt and upcoming dvd as well to ensure the photographer keeps his gig...

5. (edit) I actually clicked the link and saw the larger photo.. Water colour change appears to be explained, but still seems a tad off. This suggests to me a shorter exposure image ("ghost" note the well defined waist jacket lines and waves) combined with the long exposure image (note the bridge lights, car trails, over exposed clock face).

It is a sad time of year when a lot of people commit suicide, lonely people break down in tears as they are unable to socialise and loved ones now gone are missed more sorely, as it is the end of the year a lot of people choose simply not to face another day of more of the same and unable to break out of there pain and despair commit suicide so yeah this could be real, it could also be a chance reflection if it was taken inside on the inner pane of a window though if this was outside unless it is double exposure with proper photographic film rather than digital then this may be real.

So in all the fake ghost pictures finally someone has the foresight to do a colored clothed Ghost. I applaud that move. Spirit isn't black and white.

The figure looks just a little too close to the wall, body language suggest a state of mind far from suicide and they also seem to be texting or dealing with some gadget..... "Going to jump...lol"
