Mroning ATS. I hope you all's Christmas was a great one with family & friends. I and my family had the best Christmas in years. The man who thought I
was his dad and his family spent most of the day with us celebrating Christmas and new found friends. I presented him and his wife & daughter with the
things I spoke of in the original thread. I gave him a ton of pics of his real dad. No time to get a video made, but the pics seemed to do the
trick.
I ended up giving him two $50 US Savings bonds for him to keep for his daughters future education. We gave him & his wife a gift card or two!. They
gave me, a daylong smile, that has ended up lasting three days now!! They meet my family, my son & daughter and one of my step-sons and my
granddaughter. Everybody became fast friends. And everybody laughed at the pics of me when I was a lil lad in my baseball uniform. I was given pics I
never knew existed. Pics of me and his mom, me and hid dad, his dad & mom, his grandparents. There were laughs & tears..way more laughs than
tears.
While they were here they got to meet some of my families friends. My son's BFF came by ( he is of a bi-racial marriage) Then Alejandro ( Alex )
came by. A mexican friend of my step-sons. He actually lived with us a while as he needed some help getting his life back on a track of straight &
narrow. It was a wonderful day indeed. After a while I had a chance to be one on one with him. I told him about his dad, as much as I knew. He has
spoken to the Uncle, and let's me know, they still want nothing to do with him. They also poured the hate out for me for pointing the man in their
direction. I could care less how they feel or angst toward me.
I was asked if I knew where his dad was buried. I told him I did and we took a ride there. I walked him right up to his dad's grave. As he stood and
stared. I sort of drifted away over to where my mom & dad are buried. Let him be alone withh his thoughts. As we left the cemetary, he told me " your
parents must have been proud of you" I said " They still are" I am a reflection of the two of them". I could tell he was emotional as hell, but I
tried to keep the mood light and upbeat. On the ride back I out right told him, " I know I'm not your dad, but if you are willing I'm certainly open
to that position. He said to me," that would be great, but I have a dad" I now know who I am, and how I became to be, and you gave me that, which is
the greatest gift I have ever received as a man. You filled a hole that was growing inside me. You should me what being a real man is all about. (
That my ATS friends was the greatest present I could have ever gotten for Christmas).
As the day came to an end, we all agreed that this needed to happen on a regular basis. So in the spring the wife & I plan on making a trip to
Wilmington and pay a visit. His wife was telling my wife when we were gone that she had never meet a family like ours, so tight so close knit. My wife
let her know I keep everybody close to the vest, like a big papa bear. Yes ATS I had the best Christmas of my adult life. I gained lifelong
Friends/family, to add to the brood. As they left I gave him a simple Christmas card, told him read it later on when you get home, comfortable in your
own chair. I simply told him, " Your a damn fine young man, any man that ever meets you would be proud to call you son"
Keep up with the things your mother taught you, she did a fine, fine job of getting you to manhood. I signed it " A friend for life"........ I
certainly hope so. Have a great New Year ATS. I 'm pretty sure I will.
