Ever have something that interests you, to the point you feel other people need to be told. Ever learn something so potentially alarming, that surely people will listen. The resistance to some subjects are so great it makes me question, are they deaf or am I dumb?
ATS has provided me with so much underground information, I am thankful. I have major gripe though. I've seen it over and over, every where. A theory or idea being debated in an asinine way. Sometimes you'll see multiple debates against the subject and they start debating each other. A random example would be, the debate against Fukushima and its environmental impact. A debate started, saying global warming is the cause for all the evidence, not Fukushima. Not much later, a proposal that galactic warming was the reason for everything. The last group started attacking the second as to provide proof that the first was wrong. The entire time avoiding debating the evidence provided in the first place. I usually try to stay open minded to any debate but I think any one would be in trouble if they stayed open minded to that example.
This is my first thread on ATS. Kind of an introduction. I hope to provide back as much interesting information as I've received here. I will continue to do my best not to comment beyond an opinion, before I have contemplated the subject matter presented, completely. I hope for the same in return.
I'll help the ones here that struggle with the problems I've noticed. I still will probably mess up and misdirect some myself. Its taken me awhile to realize, they are not deaf. I am dumb.

Yeah, was looking to edit that, don't think I can. I tend to write by phonetics. Seen it the second I posted it. Well I'm off to a good start

Hi!

Good introductory thread and also rather a nifty name ya got there.

Everyone comes to the table on any given topic with different amounts of information, different amounts of interest in the subject, and different life stories that can greatly affect one's 'surety' of opinion. We're all at varying stages in other words.

Add in that we have ALL, without any doubt whatsoever, been lied to our entire lives by the governments, schools and society in general (churches, I'm looking at you) that discerning a path through all the dreck is a lifetime's work. You'll find some good teachers here.

It's a fascinating endless rabbit hole that you'll only ever partially stick your head up out of to see the light of day once in a great while.

Just be aware that there's a small contingency that likes to argue for the sake of arguing, likes to 'debate' for the sake of something not unlike a hunting party/poker game, and generally this same group is pretty low information. You can tell them cuz they revert to ridicule when they're losing.

Welcome to the Party, and Happy Sun-Standing-Still-For-Three-Days-Mass!

Wellcome and good points raised. It's very easy around here for threads to be diverted into tangential areas. Whether it is diliberate or not depends on the particpates.

I guess, we all develop our own style. I try to ignore the obvious derailing posts but sometimes the thread gets taken over anyway and I'm at the place where I just give up and try again later if at all. Rather disheartening I know, but I'm stubborn and keep posting.

LOL - stay calm and keep posting - LOL.

Its all about you and your wanting to get people to care about topics and issues YOU care about. They wont, and there is nothing you can do about that. You have to change YOUR attitude in attempting to change theirs. People are all different in what they want to hear, and some things important to you, just wont be to them. Some yes, but certainly not all. You have to understand that.

There are wars, different religions, political ideas, scientific agreements and disagreements because of the very fact there are differences of opinion. And there are a zillion differences in this world. You have to accept that not everyone will even listen to you, nor think what youre saying is important, or even true when listening to you.

There are more than 31 flavors of ice cream
There are dozens and dozens of religions
There are hundreds and hundreds of different kinds and styles of shoes, clothes, furniture and cars
There are thousands of words in a dictionary
There are 10's of thousands of very different facts and topics on Wikipedia, and in a library

Are you getting what Im saying here? Its you that has to figure this out. Hold your own beliefs, ideas, interests of course. But its natural for people to not speak the same language, believe that 911 and the Kennedy assassinations (2) were conspiracies, that there are UFOs, aliens, chemtrails, and secret societies running the world.

As we all get older, we have to pick our battles as in what to preach and what subjects to talk about, and who to...when to, and where to do it. Its your understanding that has to change...some people will never care about what you say, nor believe any of it.

It's like speaking French to a Russian or Portuguese to an Egyptian. Don't let it get to you, just realize whats important for you to discuss....some will listen to. The other 1/2 will be thinking about what to have for dinner...

Welcome....
