Forgiveness is the Greek word aphesis it means..... to BE freed from bondage.... it is the noun that comes from the root verb forgive which is
aphiēmi which is...to send away to let go.However forgive(ness) has turned into the modern day meaning by religious extrapolation of "pardoning" of
guilt. In the context of what forgiveness and forgive is said it is not pardoning from guilt.Everyone is 100% accountable for their guilt. There are no
pardons. Everything is "judged" justly.
The main extrapolation is from what is called "the lords prayer(which is not a prayer) to "forgive others of their trespasses(which is pesha` in
Hebrew meaning..... transgression or rebellion). This does note mean unless we "pardon" others of their "wrong doing" against us we won't be pardoned
of ours. That is lip service of a religious agenda at best.To "forgive" someone of their trespass against you is to let go and be free bondage from it
so it isn't a burden because ....if not...it WILL fester into a grudge then revenge and the second state is worse than the first....It is
practicality.Yahoshua understood this very well.
Yahoshua said essentially the same thing in "turn the other cheek"(it's a metaphor... not literal). The person committing the offense is guilty... no
"forgiveness" will pardon them.Turning the other cheek is so the offendee can be freed! The deed is done .It can't be taken back....the wound will
swell however there is no need for them to fester and cause more suffering.Let it go ...be freed from bondage. Is that easy to do.....of course not.It
is not the natural reaction....lashing out in retaliation is.It may make the offendee "feel" better for a season however it eventually causes more
harm than good and they won't "be" better.
Yahoshua is never "teaching" how to "do" things. He is always proclaiming what things are. When he preaches "repent" he is proclaiming it is the prelude
to the coming of the Kingdom of God .There is no"method" involved like ....first.....repent of your "sins" then ask forgiveness for them, then you're
saved by believing Jesus saves you etc etc......just as there is no "method" for forgiveness which is incorrectly extrapolated from the "Lords
prayer".
There is not a "conditional action" that needs to be done before the creator God forgives someone. They are axiomatic.Forgiveness is just one of the
listed(there are infinite ) fruits of the spirit. They are ALL states of being not something you "do".When you are in the state of "forgiveness" the
creator God is freeing you from bondage to let go.
