MSNBC host Martin Bashir resigns over Palin remarks

MSNBC host Martin Bashir resigned Wednesday following controversy surrounding remarks he made on his show in November about former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. "Upon further reflection, and after meeting with the president of MSNBC, I have tendered my resignation," Bashir said in a statement. "It is my sincere hope that all of my colleagues, at this special network, will be allowed to focus on the issues that matter without the distraction of myself or my ill-judged comments." In a segment that aired on his show in November, Bashir called Palin a "world class idiot" after she equated the United States borrowing money from China with slavery.

Personally I don't think he said anything worth resigning over. Palin has been called a lot worst things and those people never gave up their jobs over it. Here is the video.

Why did he resign? I loled at his mini rant and agreed with him.
Palin isn't the brightest of sparks out there.

I don't think he should have been fired as well.

I like Sarah Palin.

But I also like Freedom of speech!

People should not be punished simply because they have a difference of opinion.

Personally, he should have stayed on the air voicing his idiotic opinions.

Definitely not enough to quit a job.

My comments would've been more along the lines of, Palin needs to quit politics and get into the adult movie business.

The fact is that all of these self appointed on air judges have gotten way too big for their britches.

We need about 99% less personal agenda and self righteous anger in reporting. We need about 99% more actual facts.

We don't need to know what these people want us to think.
We need to know facts so that WE can do the thinking.

Should he have resigned over it? Who cares. He's one of thousands.

Turds don't stop being turds just because they happen to roll off of the manure pile.

I think the whole episode was planned.

MSNBC gets their point across and the "talent" actors get paid.

Now he can surface somewhere else.

I'm not a conservative, like Norway's system best, however, she has good eyes. Looks like a real person in an ocean of used salesmen. So, she has the right to speak her mind about selling out to China without being ridiculed.

I don't like Palin or Bashir, but his remarks were out of line.

Martin Bashir Resigns After He Suggests Someone Should Defecate In Sarah Palin's Mouth
is the spin being put on it by the Huffington Post:

www.huffingtonpost.co.uk...

Which he didn't actually say - but looked at in that way, it's not surprising he was forced to quit. His reaction to Palin was very strange in my opinion: she is beyond doubt a prize idiot, but mentioning the word 'slavery' does not warrant an OT rant about life on the plantations.
