We can all be called 'criminals' or 'terrorists'.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

by Martin Niemoller (1892-1984)
www.age-of-the-sage.org...

Niemoeller was active as a leader in a so-called Pastors' Emergency League and in a Synod that denounced the abuses of the dictatorship in the famous "Six Articles of Barmen." Such activities finally led to his arrest on 1 July 1937. When the subsequent court appearance was followed by his release with only a modest 'slap on the wrist' Hitler personally ordered his incarceration with the result that Niemoeller remained in concentration camp, including long periods of solitary confinement, until the end of the war.

Niemoller occasionally traveled internationally after the war and delivered many speeches and sermons in which he confessed of his own blindness and inaction in earlier years when the Nazi regime rounded up the communists, socialists, trade unionists, and, finally, the Jews.

Pisses me off that the leaks are being made public little by little, with each having greater implications than the last. This is blunting the information's effect, people are already conditioned to an extent by these leaks. The information should have been disclosed - ALL OF IT - on day one. It may have been a huge amount of data, but let the people sort through it while it's new and has their full attention. Nothing will change with this gradual release BS because the people will not get angry enough. Perhaps by design, like the proverbial frog in boiling water.

I don't agree that leaking the data a bit at a time is "blunting the information's effect", quite the opposite I suspect. If it all came out at once, in would be overwhelming and much would be lost in the 'noise'.

A good argument (or case) is built up slowly, piece by piece, over time and with much repetition.

I think the data relevations are being handled quite well.

I agree but have to add that there is only so much that we can opt-out off. Or rather that the vast majority of people can opt-out of.

In fact, the very idea of opting-out is frightening. We were never given the opportunity to comment on many intrutions while they were going up. I recall watching all the 'traffic' camera's going up around LA, there was no election, I didn't get a vote on that surveilance system - I didn't have a change to opt-in to the system nor opt-out - big business opted us all in.

www.fbi.gov...

It's right there from the FBI themselves. Breaking state law (such as protesting) in an attempting to change a law in response to government conduct is domestic terrorism.

Remember that big trucker rally to DC that never happened? Their purpose was to intimidate the government according to the nice and helpful FBI, that was conspiracy to commit terrorism.

It doesn't take much to be labeled a terrorist these days. I bet we're all dangerous terrorists or felons that need to be monitored within the next few years.

While i respect your views, we are only on this earth for a finite period, and I have more pressing concerns like scrapping a living to put food on my table for my family

Yet you have time to come to ATS. That sounds like time to do something "more pressing" like petitioning and fighting against government corruption. Even if it's as simple as sending a letter to a representative (US or UK for that matter).

With the way things are going, how long will it be until we all have something to hide?

You don't even need something to hide - it would be easy enough to take something out of context, that phone call from the man or woman that you had dinner with at a trade conference, those gifts you forgot to declare in a income tax form.

While i respect your views, we are only on this earth for a finite period, and I have more pressing concerns like scrapping a living to put food on my table for my family, than some spook listening to my telephone or reading my internet posts. I am aware that privacy is a concern for many many people, and I respect that. However allowing decisions beyond your control to dictate how you live your life is not how I wish to live.

Are you aware that TPTB have socially engineered reality specifically so you have to spend all your time worrying about feeding your family, and precious little time to spend watching/critiquing the watchers? That's the game, my friend--TPTB want to keep you so busy, so stressed-out, so distracted that you won't pay any attention to how tight they're making the noose around your throat.

I remember watching a Bilderburg interview with an inside worker at the hotel who said he overheard two members talking about the protests outside. The insider quoted them as saying, "It's REALLY a problem that these people still have enough money to come do this [protest]."

I can't find the vid atm--it was a clip within another larger interview--but when it doubt, you can always go straight to the social engineering blueprint, Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars.

Point being--if you don't MAKE time to care about TPTB violating your rights, your privacy, your freedom, the day will come when you'll have MUCH bigger problems than figuring out how to feed your family. Cause you'll be leaving your kids a world with these psychopaths in even greater control, running roughshod over whatever scraps of freedom still remain after people too busy to care let them "do as thou wilt" for yet another generation.

This is the future of your children and the planet we're talking about. So I'd think real, real hard before deciding to let these criminals in charge have a long leash on ANYTHING. Because whatever trust you give them, whatever freedoms you relinquish for security, they WILL abuse... and they'll just keep abusing you and yours in the process.

So yeah, right now you're giving your family food... but your apathy won't let them inherit much of a future.

I am totally aware that the situation is engineered as a distraction so that people are not fully aware of their actions. I am a member of this site so trust me I know what they are doing. I just don't see this being a massive issue at the moment. They have been doing this for years and it hasn't affected me personally yet. So why should I really care if they track my location.

But I do agree that forcing financial hardship upon people with increasing taxes, cost of living etc is a ploy by TPTB to stop protests, hell I wanted to go and join in with occupy London and also picket the bilderberg meetings in watford this year, but I didn't have the spare money or time. Plus my Mrs is paranoid that I'd be arrested for attending these protests.

Had I been single with no dependents I'd of been their like a shot, but I have responsibilities that i cannot cast aside for my own personal crusade. My Mrs just rolls her eyes at me every time I try and converse with her about subjects raised on this site because she has no interest. It is deeply concerning that no one really cares about this. I care but I don't see how i can personally affect what they do at this time. Clearly coming here and having a good old moan about their underhand tactics and actions doesn't work as they still do as they please. They are a law unto themselves.

The only way change will occur is if every citizen took to the streets en masse and protested. This is never going to happen as far as i can see and they know this, so they don't care about small pockets of protestors every now and again.

Fair point, but one letter to my local MP, who lets face it is probably as bent as a 12 bob note, is not going to change anything. The idea of a democratic society where everyone has a voice is a complete illusion, and anyone who believes this is completely deluded imo. As I said in my post above I do not have the time to go protesting their actions every time I disagree with them. The time where people could stand up to their governments and actually make a difference is a thing of the past I'm afraid.

Yet another "leak" to send people back to 1999 style thinking on what the NSA is capable of.

This is only news for someone who is incapable of thinking for their selves.

Obviously, the NSA does what it wants, to the extent that it can get funded. It obviously has wanted to track people for decades.

Who needs RFID when you're already gps tracked.

I don't need a mobile to buy or sell. So I don't think that a mobile is the mark of the beast.

you know that "they" are running weird algorithms to predict peoples behavior, only to waste the info on some company wanting to sell you more cans of cola rather than predicting serial killer moves or terrorist movements.

That's because they don't actually care about either of those. Selling Pepsi moves the economy and makes the corporate overlords richer. Catching terrorists removes the bad guy making a large portion of the defense industry obsolete. It's essentially the same problem as drug companies wanting to treat diseases rather than cure them.
