How do we convince other humans and Nations to begin to save humanity by getting as many of us off this single basket as we can to ensure we do not go extinct?

Well it is unlikely the Earth, Moon, Asteroids and Mars will all get hit with an Asteroid at the same time so some humans would survive to move back to earth when things settle down should earth take a comet hit.
We know how to build space stations with gravity if we decided to do so we could. It is just expensive. All of us sitting on one rock it really stupid when we know how to move some of us off.

Perhaps the point is to just keep humanity scratching around trying to figure out what the point is?

Why is modern man and Nations so apathetic to our eventual extinction? It is a fact Earth will be decimated again...
We know the earth has gone through multiple mass extinctions. It is virtually a fact that humanity will end if we do not spread out and colonize what we can colonize in our solar system.
What are we waiting for? Why would we wait when it could happen right now?
We are the very first known life to know how to colonize planets, asteroids, moons. Why are we so stupid to sit here playing Russian roulette with humanities very existence?
How do we convince other humans and Nations to begin to save humanity by getting as many of us off this single basket as we can to ensure we do not go extinct?
Nothing can really be more important.
Is it religion? Are we really going to place the survival of our species in the hands of Gods who do not communicate with us in an obvious manner?

It is the speed of our lives, we are really not meant to live the way we do but a more sedate pace of life with time to think, the fast rate of modern life and the constant mind blocking concerns of workplace and career lead most of us to forget long term worries and concerns and our own awareness of the short term of our physical existance also leads us to lose interest in matters we percieve to be beyond that point.
The truth is that in a society growing increasingly more secular with less single unifying religious and social factors we are more insular as individuals for the most part and our own concerns not those of our disparate group have taken short term immediate priority, especially in a world were governments no longer has any true honest commitment to there people but are merely lackys producing legislation for the favoured corporations and there ultra wealthy boards.

Are you certain that all humans are equally apathetic?
Maybe some groups are well-prepared, and it's just the
rest of us that are the dead weight that will be left
behind to die.

This is a rather incomplete notion and you might have been best served working this out a bit more. You seem to be suggesting that the human body as it expresses itself is doomed due to xy or z. So, why isn't anyone upset by this enough to figure out an answer to the future doom?
For one, saving the human race by moving a few hand picked people to mars is beyond silly. No matter how you view Earth, Mars is deathly worse. While Detroit may seem awful to many I assure you a day on Mars would be far far worse.
Second: who goes? The reason people can't get worked about getting off the planet is that they won't be going. At best a few go and the won't be you or I.
Third. We all think in terms of our own experience. There is no "humanity to save" as this is just a concept. We all die. Every one of us dies. We all just drop dead. To date, billions have died. Since we all know we die, there is no inherent reason to get worked up about a "future" death for all.
Fourth. Thinking in this was is beyond horrendous for the now. If people stopped thinking toward the future and focused on the now, things would change. But because people are always in the world of fantasy-future, nothing changes, as they see the now as not nearly as important as the future where all is great or horrible.
Fifth. A lot of the world is dealing with food and enough to eat. The concern of moving people on ships to Mars or beyond is beyond silly when a piece of bread is your focus.
We choose to live on Earth, and one day, this option will be gone. On that day, we'll choose to live elsewhere in another form.

Initially would be just a few but I propose we develop ourselves to a capability of moving many of us off world and begin to learn and live out in the solar system where we will continue to procreate and evolve.
