Okay, this isn't a thread about the movie.

This is a thread about ATS. About how we seem to be in agreement, for the most part. There appears to be a silence from the more progressive members lately. Not naming names (please don't) but the usual partisan banter seems to be lacking, lately.

I don't think it's because one side has won. Maybe things really are that bad and there is no arguing it anymore.

Are things getting that bad that we can all be in agreement? Are things that bad that even the most ardent partisans remain silent, because even they know how bad it is?

Just a thought, but I've noticed others even commenting on the threads about the lack of argument lately.

I was watching Bill Hicks on Youtube today after being reminded after reading a thread and I like his "left hand/right hand" puppet routine.

Two puppets with the same puppet master controlling both.

I was lurker for a long time before signing on and I've notice the lack of partisan arguments as well.

I am hopeful that it's because people are now realizing the red team/blue team thing is pointless. Not much difference in the two sides as they have continually worked toward the same goal over the years. It's even more obvious now I think with the fact that Bush and Obama really have been very similar in many ways.

I said I felt like I had a bad hangover from being fooled by the Bush presidency. Man wait until this one is over. Unfortunately, there will be no one else to fool and I fear what's next.

I have noticed more dispersion in thinking, people becoming more specialized in their particular topic of interest. Maybe due to a splitting up so it becomes more and more and more disparate to even discuss anything as it is not my particular field of expertise.

So many choices, so hard to search a particular topic.

I often click onto things these days only to discover a video is one and half hours long, and I simply don't have the time or inclination to watch something for that long.

Too many choices I would put it down to.

It's an interesting point you make

Times are tough all over beezzer - people are a little tired of conflict

And some of those threads are irrational snake pits - though maybe they don't look that way if you're more on one side than another

I was reading through one the other day - there was no reason for the opposing team to even get involved - it was a unanimous, all for one and one for all session of nasty

where's the fun in that?

You know I think that's the general sentiment. Many people feel duped, as they should.

I've never voted really. I voted for Hillary way back in the day when I was young but it was more because I thought it would be entertaining to see her have to meet with middle eastern countries(we know how much they like lady leaders over there). I know that sounds bad, but I was 18 or 19 and was mischievous.

Now I don't bother even entertainment purposes. Last election I was working. My time was more wisely spent than it would have been voting. I identify as anarchist and really don't follow politics. I think all politicians are bimbos who when it comes down to it supports stealing from Peter to pay Paul.

People have been duped by the political charade for long enough. I just get sad to see that people are shifting their focus from the red team/blue team # to other dividing things that are such obvious diversions in my opinion.

There is always an unnatural calm before a storm...prepare for carnage on a scale never seen before...(also...there might be rabbits involved - and you think you cried in Watership Down!)

Has ATS become a conservative echo chamber? Even if there were an overwhelming number of conservatives, it doesn't validate their argument.
If anything, ATS has become more libertarian, in my humble opinion.

The progressive ideology has been proven wrong on a number of occasions. The Obamacare plan has been exposed.
The peace-prize-president has been shown to be war-hungry.
Big government ideology, from the US to Australia regardless of "sides", has shown itself to be the monolith of uncaring idealogues.

Perhaps the bloom is coming off the rose.

It seems to me like the moderates have lost the debate or are just drowned out by the more fundamentalist elements from both sides of the political spectrum.

One presumes that they were in the wrong. The other presumes they are simply in the minority.

I don't think a conspiracy website provides us with a representative view of the beliefs of the population at large. It's quite a niche community we have here. In the real world the vast majority of people are definitely a lot more moderate and less anti establishment.

I would agree that the left has failed to provide any solutions to the problems we have, I fear libertarianism would only hasten the corporatism and only provide a financial solution rather than a cultural and environmental solution. It would increase inequality and damage to the environment, where every life system on earth is in decline.

I agree. The vast majority doesn't question convention. And that's what I think differentiates us from the rest.

We all see the same problem.

i.e. x+y=7.

Some say the only answer is 3+4
Others claim the answer is 6+1
Some fringe groups may say 5+2

I guess agreeing on the solution is what separates us.

Shocking development.. I agree. Im somewhat of an expert on this sort of thing. Lucky you...

This board is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.... real wrath of God type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes... The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

Yep same here I have noticed. I really do have an idea as to
why this is going down, it is not a pleasant thought.

Dare I say it, its all over but the whimpering?
Or, it is the quiet before the storm?

Either way, it is a pivotal moment in time.
