I love the new ATS website....................BUT

I have been a lurker and a part time posted here at ATS for many many years now. I never really stick my neck out because of the trolls or shills or even mods who just don't like what people say sometimes. (I understand decency and standards, most of them do not) But now I have to speak up.

I know they will most likely delete this thread because it says something they don't want people to catch or understand. They have commercialized this website with all the advertising spaces and HUGE POPUPS that get in the way of my viewing experience. I log into the site and right off the bat a huge transparent Media file starts running getting in the way of my ATS experience. I know people should be payed for their labors, but this is ridiculous to say the last.

Next thing you know the whole screen will be ads and a small 300px box in the center is all that's left of the original ATS Ideal. The worse it gets the more likely I will find another forum that has paid members and not many ads, or at least not ads that get in the way of the user experience.

Again making money is one thing, turning ATS into nothing more then an advertising site for media dollars and that leads me to believe they have wondered off the path of righteousness.

Just a rant, but most likely a Rant that could get me banned or my post deleted. Time will tell.

That's a legitimate complaint. I understand that after a certain number of posts most of the ads are removed, but people could easily get frustrated by the ads and leave before they reach whatever the magic number is.

Your rant won't get deleted, but the post just below yours might. That's considered naughty here.

Its not that they will delete this because you are criticizing the site, its because there is an actual complaints forum.

TBH, I dont think they mind or object to criticism so theres really no need to be snide or sarcastic about it.

Just my $.02 cents.

I think the site looks good, and you have to remember, even though it is a forum where content comes from members, sites like this one, and as big takes dedication and time, and they also need the funding to support their efforts. If they can make more money from this site, more power to em!

Another thing I noticed, if you are using an android phone, the formatting is lousy on the new site when it formats it for a mobile device, but if you have chrome, you can hit the menu and request the desktop site. Other than that, I really do like the new format.

There's also some thread specifically about particularly annoying ads, which the ATS PTB started (I believe). I used to be subscribed to it, and could provide the link, but apparently since the site update my older subscriptions have been disappeared, which is only one of my many complaints about the new ATS site layout and functionality. And we all know how swell the search works here...

Problem ads can be reported here;

Worst Ads Ever! (SkepticOverlord's Ad Hitlist)

...which incidentally was found in seconds using the ATS search function, by putting in "skepticoverlord ad"

Ad blockers are prohibited here as per the Terms and Conditions
