Is the "Hunger Games" fast becoming the GOPs book of the week?

With the movie’s release come some especially crass and bizarre product tie-ins, including the Cover Girl Hunger Games assortment of nail polishes called “Capitol Colors” (the name makes sense if you’re familiar with the books or films) and my personal favorite, the Subway Restaurants line of “Fiery Footlongs,” described on the MTV News website as “Sriracha-powered hoagies that hope to cure the hunger games happening at lunchtime in your tummy.”

But we should let people starve, Right? We can't afford to help them,Right?

To those of you who aren’t deficit hawks circling over the Potomac keeping a precise count on this sort of thing, this will constitute a federal budget savings of $5 billion for fiscal year 2014 and another $6 billion from fiscal 2015 through 2016. Meanwhile, this has a real and drastic impact on every one of the 48 million Americans — that’s one in seven of us — who receives the aid, now officially known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP. (The cut marks the end of extra funding that was put into the program as part of the stimulus package in 2009.) Forget the crude stereotypes and clichés, by the way: close to half of the households receiving help from SNAP have someone working and 61 percent of the recipients are white.

Aren't they all eating Gucci Handbags with a side of Coach Fries?

Even before the cuts, monthly food stamps for most families only last about two and a half weeks — that’s according to Amalia Swan, outreach director at a food bank in Syracuse, NY. Now more than ever, many will be turning to food banks like hers for help — but such programs are stretched to the limit.

Well done GOP. Don't forget, every time the SNAP bell rings, John Boehner cries!

I don't quite get it.... Are you saying the author of the hunger games wrote it to push a GOP agenda, or are you just comparing the movie solely?

from Oct 31

Starting Friday, millions of Americans receiving food stamps will be required to get by with less government assistance every month, a move that not only will cost them money they use to feed their families but is expected to slightly dampen economic growth as well.

The Republican-controlled House version of the farm bill proposes cutting $39 billion from the program over the next decade; the Democratic-controlled Senate would cut $4 billion over the same period.

As Cuts to Food Stamps Take Effect, More Trims to Benefits Are Expected

Disgraceful behavior!

I think maybe he is saying the GOP wishes to starve people to death. It's their secret agenda you know, to funnel all the food to the Koch brothers. Feed them untill they become of critical mass, that way they can destroy the entire planet.

Muhahahaha

So they cut food stamps, and bring about austerity measures because they claim that money is a problem.... Then they write themselves 328 billion dollars checks, at almost zero interest, with no intention of ever paying it back..... So I ask each and every one of you. What money problems?

Why do the people have money problems, but the government doesnt?

Obama using food-stamp cash to fund Michelle’s ‘Let’s Move’

"On Nov. 1, sizable cuts were gouged into the federal food-stamp program (or, as it’s now called, SNAP, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), which feeds 47.6 million people, or nearly one in six Americans. In the city, 1.9 million folks get the bulk of their Jell-O and Campbell’s Soup from stamps.

But news has spread among the poor, like leafy green vegetables, that it wasn’t heartless Republicans who triggered the cuts.

Rather, some of the food-stamp cash was snatched to pay for Michelle Obama’s pet project, Let’s Move.

It’s come to this. Some 76 million meals a year will vanish from this city — poof! — partly because the president diverted money from SNAP to the first lady’s signature program, part of her Let’s Move anti-obesity initiative — the bean-sprout-heavy, $4.5 billion Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act.

Hunger activists are livid. In fact, the cuts will bring on no less than civil unrest, according to the head of the Food Bank for New York City.

“If you look across the world, riots always begin typically the same way: when people can’t afford to eat food,” Margarette Purvis, Food Bank president and CEO, told Salon.com.

Progressive policies are designed to destroy the middle class, leaving a large peasant class and the "elite" to rule over them. It's not a left/right problem, the establishment in both parties are working towards an authoritarian regime, and monopolizing the food supply is a major part of their agenda.

Still with the Red vs. Blue, Dem vs. Repub, good cop vs. bad cop, Kabuki dancing divide and conquer strategy instead of mathematics, physics, and historical evidence on what works and what does not work. Sigh.
