FucYouShima is tens of thousands of times more radiation intensive than Chernobyl;

Chernobyl was entombed rather promptly although the containment sarcophagus is already deteriorating. Turns out radiation is kinda corrosive.

Funny how back when I was a kid, they used to scare us with Duck and Cover and the ''Wow Gosh Gee Whiz!" warning that just a gram of plutonium would be enough to kill everyone on the entire planet.

Now apparently radiation is good for you. A skinny blonde on teevee said so...

We have a PTB that nuked NYC back on 9-11 and almost nobody realizes it, although the evidence is right in front of their faces and the research has been done by others, simply for the reading and learning.

Now we have the most incomprehensibly horrific menace to the entire global biosphere imaginable, and instead of getting the instantaneous cooperation of the entire planet's governments to try to do something, anything, to ameliorate the damage, they do what? Nothing. Worse than nothing, they pretend the threat is nonexistent, and continue on with their petty money-worshipping ways, seemingly unaware that we've all committed collective suicide on the installment plan.

Thanks those sights are awesome and it did help me find the elderly volunteer part but not the rest, I figure TPTB have removed a lot of that early reported stuff I guess. I live on the west coast so I'm just sitting back and waiting for when we all start glowing lol. I keep telling my boss and co worker not to eat fish but they keep forgetting?!?!?! Now we have to worry about the beef and milk and veggies too. So I guess I'll just enjoy what time we have left heh.

Young man, there are no words to express the sadness those words bring in anyone who has a soul. Us older folks lived with the commies planing to bomb us, the Iraqis have lived through an unimaginable horror, some folks in the Philippines just had hell from water and on and on. None of these made for TV events were ELE type events and that is very different. And yes, people are already getting sick in ways they cannot understand - not cancer, not things the AMA cares about. I have 2 co-workers who are pregnant with their first children. I don't bring this up at work. I feel sooooo sad for them, and all of the other young parents and children.

Actually, I was referring to the fact that you were obviously trying to put the blame on conservatives (with very generic assumptions). We have a democrat president in the White House, Obama, which just happens to be all buddy buddy with GE (not paying taxes and all, and funding Obama's campaign). So GE, which you partly blamed for the problems at Fukushima. If you want to (somehow) make this a partisan issue (in the U.S. which is actually not part of Japan), point the finger at the correct party of power in the US.

And to still another poster up above, no it's not time to enter the bunker, but that won't save you in any event. Another few years before the Pacific Ocean is all but dead, and how long do you think life on land will last without that resource, including the surface algae which produces the vast majority of the planet's oxygen??

Actually, trees, plants, etc provide a good part of oxygen, but that is besides the point. Honestly, what can we do now? Would I be fine living without anything "nuclear"? Sure, I would be just fine, even without electricity. But what does algae have to do with cleaning up Fukushima? I don't need to know the importance of algae to know radiation isn't exactly a good thing to sweeten my tea with.

I haven't seen a single constructive idea from you that would help with preventing further contamination.

I just posted on a similar thread...I actually own one of those 60's- era Geiger counters and it works well. I even have a Cesium 137 check source. So far, I haven't noticed any change in the background level (beta) radiation here in California. I'm really waiting for the first rain storm to be sure, though. I do worry about fish contamination however, and one reason I got the meter is so I can check my food. So far, so good but who knows what to expect in the future...but as for this being an extinction level event? I personally think that fishing the oceans clean of everything but diatoms and jellyfish is the more immediate threat, but there are several things going on concurrently that scare the crap out of me: radiation from Fukushima, acidification of the oceans by increasing CO2 levels, pollution i.e. Gulf Coast disaster/garbage etc.

Let's face it: the oceans are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing. It's not all just due to radiation. Like the poster said earlier in this thread, it is Capitalism and ignorance of its effects on the environment that are killing us all (along with overpopulation - don't ever forget that one). Radiation is just one part of the whole house of cards that is currently on fire...

I live on the west coast, sf bay area, and haven't really told my wife or 4 year old. We are gettin the hell out soon. Her family are all in SoCal and most of mine in northern Cal and Oregon. However, my wackjob mother in law happens to live in the Nevada desert. Nevada is a great state, fully believes in protecting yourself with as many bullets an needed. Ever seen a mass evac? 35 or so million people told to go East, or South East, or North East? Me neither. I imagine total anarchy, and it scares me. But you can't trip out too bad, wife gets worried, 4 yr old gets worried, still have to survive and protect what means the most to me. So lay low, I say. Have a plan, know the what/where/how, and prepare for the future. God help my son, his life may be far harder than mine

I don't want to derail this into political arguing but why would you only blame the party with a majority? In our system the minority always has power, that's what prevents it from being mob rule. Right now the Democrats have more power than the Republicans but both have power, and certain individuals are deeply entrenched in the system and hold a lot of power regardless of who is in charge. If you're blaming action or inaction in the US Democrats are to blame but so are Republicans. Neither side is blameless, and I don't say this just as a both sides are bad rant but to point out that excusing any given side at any given time is simply giving one a pass for no logical reason.

That said I don't think the person was even being partisan. Despite all the cries of socialist, marxist, communist, etc towards those on the left they're quite capitalist and just as much whores to corporations as those on the right. That's actually one of the problems with both of them, both of our major parties have embraced what is essentially a radical extremist form of capitalism.

signalfire, i agree whole heartedly that this is far bigger than we're told (as is often the case). But can you explain what you mean by 'nuked NYC'. Is that literal or a euphemism?

True, It wasn't said, but it was very much implied if you'll notice some of the things said in the poster's first post. I didn't bring the left/right argument into this until I saw that. I agree with you though, this should not be a partisan issue. There is really no room for partisan squabbles in something this important.

But I will admit it pushed my buttons a bit to see that brought up, considering the fact that the Democrats do have more power, and like I said in my previous post, one of the corporations mentioned by that poster (GE) was one of Obama's top donors, in other words, I just wanted to point out that neither side gets of scot-free when it comes to completely ignoring what is going with Fukushima, it affects, or will affect everyone..

I would say that it's not radical capitalism, but corrupt capitalism, and both sides of the isle are equally guilty of it. When you see a politician arguing to another, they aren't arguing for me or you, they're arguing for special interests. Some people need to realize that instead pointing fingers, which is the point I was trying to make.

Instead what I've read about certain people going off to live on their Isolated Islands isn't too pleasing to the eye! We have people so ignorant that they still spend Millions on an Art Painting at Auction ((which probably isn't even the real thing) and we have massive problems in the World which could be avoided.

How big are these 'Rods'? Couldn't they be lifted out by Army Copters (those big Chinooks)?? And taken to a desert and destroyed under the Earth?

I know they need the water to keep them cool but is it possible to transport a Swimming Pool Sized tank? The Weight of the Pool, Water and Rods Combined??

You are correct but some of them are also blind to the damage it is doing to the youth that still live in the area. The old timers are done growing and developing the radiation isn't hitting them the same way it does the youth. Very few children are living in the area and those that do are paying for it dearly with thier lives. Here is an interesting story regading the locals who still live there.
