Hi, that sounds plausible.
The Giant's Causeway is in Northern Ireland, and Shetland is off the north east coast of Scotland, nearer to Norway.
But of course Scots travelled and took their stories with them.
Wulvers is pronounced 'wull-vers'' rather than 'woolvers', but again who knows how it might have changed over time and with regional dialect.
You have intrigued me with the tale of the Lopes! Were they kind too? And known to fish?
My best guess is that they were a now extinct animal, maybe like bears, (who fish) who lived side by side with the Shetlanders.
Thanks for your reply, it seems like the Wulvers might have cousins!
