It is the dumbest money maker of a holiday there is.

Nope, you're wrong on this count.

Sweetest day is the dumbest idea ever foisted on us. Shouldn't everyday be sweetest day if you're in love?

The only holidays I like (here in the US) are 4th of July, Labor Day and Thanksgiving, but it's mostly because of the food! YUM! They're like mandatory gluttony days.

Add me to the grinch, Bah humbug list. I don't like Halloween now and I didn't like it as a kid. Really have no idea why...must have an anti Halloween gene.

It's the best Holiday of the year. Also my Birthday.

I like it because it doesn't require you to buy gifts. You decide your participation level and your costs can be nothing with a little ingenuity.

Frightening children is one of my all time favorites.

I save my grievances for the forced gift/extortion days like Valentines and such.

No you're not the only one......
I will be locking the doors and ignoring them as children knock on them as I do every year.

Living in England as a child Halloween was something I barely heard about. It was no big deal, it was something we were aware was big in the US but it wasn't a big part of our culture. Now it's just stupid how much the UK as bought ( quite literally) into this crap and how quickly!. Apparently Halloween in England is now a "holiday" and you can purchase "happy halloween" cards. I'm sorry, but the supermarkets and stores in the UK wont be making a penny off me during this so called "holiday" period.

I'm not boring, I know how to have fun. I know how to spend time imaginatively with my children, to me that's not what Halloween is about. I seriously would like to know when exactly and why people in England became so obsessed so quickly with another money making event that lines the pockets of big businesses.

I used to love bonfire night when I was a kid....but at the same time that Halloween has grown in popularity here, the traditions and fuss associated with November the 5th and bonfire night whilst still going strong as started to wane a little. I hope there never comes a time when Halloween shadows bonfire night celebrations...but I think it may already be the case or on the verge!

So yes, I do hate the over-hyped and commercialised Halloween that we now have here....can't we just give it back to America....please!?

and a double bahhh humbug from me too. Lets get rid of all holidays all together! And we should also ban smiling and laughter. Kids should never be allowed to have fun, smile, laugh or do anything they might get excited about. All they need to know is public school reeducation camp, getting a job and paying there taxes. Anything involving fun like holidays should be grounds for arrest and we can send all of them to a concentration camp. But we could replace all the holidays with one national day where we all Hiel hitler! (not)

When I was in an obnoxious uber-religious phase, I hated Halloween too.
Thank God I have chilled out and understand it's now just about kids having
fun in costumes and kids eating candy.

Chill .. nothing to hate ... lots of chocolate and fun costumes to love.

It's a holiday where people make very clear who they serve. It's a very dark pagan day indeed.

I love Halloween. I don't dress up, but each year I give the kids a boat load of candy, along with various toys, and neon lights.

This year I have a variety of candy with lots of ball, kites, and some other stuff. Was a little tight on cash this year, so no coloring books, car toys, or barbies. Maybe next year I will get them. And this time I will stock up and put it in box before Halloween next year.

I swear those who think that are insane. Not like we don't make our own choices. Has nothing to do with the devil. lol. Everything is a sin for you guys.

And it totally annoys me how people like you indoctrinate into your children's heads. It's just another form of brainwashing and you fell trap to it.

I don't care for the over-commercialization of Holidays either, however is one I do care for. It's more so a Holiday for creative people to take upon their ideas as well. As mentioned above, no, it's not because I worship a dark anthropomorphic figure, I do not believe in that. Not everyone does anyway if they celebrate, kinda vague and stereotypical to lump everyone into that. To each their own.

Speaking of dangerous for children and adults, today's trick-or-treaters are very cautioned due to tragic acts of the past. Other Holidays seem to trump Halloween in comparison when it comes to danger such as drunk drivers and New Year's.

So, because I dont like Halloween I am a grinch, I am an old fart, I dont like fun, I dont like the commercialised version we deal with now. When I was a KID and I repeat KID. It was fun, making your own costume, getting together with friends and maraudeing the neighborhood. Times change, now adays it takes money to particapate . I would not hazard to guess there's a haunted house making money hand over fist in each town you Halloween lovers live in....and none of them are free. So, I want you all to have fun tommorow, those with kids especially. But most of all I hope YOU ALL stay safe. Can't wait for Christmas....think I'm a grinch now, just wait.

Everything is commercialized these days... Christmas decor in the stores already? Halloween is my fav. time of the year, the mask comes off and you get to show your true colors.... you get to be what you want to be. But reaching deeper on any "holiday" you have to find the true meaning and keep what makes sense to you. I personally hate Christmas, and whoa to all the nay-sayers, I have my reasons.

It's too bad that everything has to be bought up and sold out these days, promoted and portrayed to line the pockets of corporations... nothing is immune, and IMHO that is the problem.

What's sad was there wasn't really much of a selection this year for Halloween. I mean my store barely got anything to select from and they had the candy for dirt cheap on sale this year. I know last year they didn't put it on sale until after Halloween. I thought that was extremely cool of them.
Was able to get more candy for the kids.

Morning All, Here we are at that time of year again, the unofficial start of the money spending season. Oct, Nov, Dec. Halloween, it should be banned.

Just because YOU don't like something doesn't mean it should be banned. If that were the case I'd say ban Christmas because I think that is the dumbest money maker of a holiday EVER.

Tomorrow night all across America little kids will drive their parents to the point of distraction with Trick or Treating. So glad my kids are grown and no longer fall prey to the halloween money goblins. We dont give out candy, kids cant even get to my house, man I love that fact. We will get up Friday and read about some one somewhere being poisoned or slipped drugs or robbed, or a small child somewhere being hurt or killed because of a stupid holiday.

Bad stuff happens every day, you don't need a holiday for crazy people or bad things. Sounds to me like you are an angry person over such a small holiday that is just for fun. Nobody said you had to hand out candy. We have at my apt complex signs we put on our door to show that we are handing out candy. I like it that way because then you won't be knocking on some grumps door.

We'll have boat loads of adults ( as they call themselves) dressing up and getting trashed then getting behind the wheel of a vehicle. We'll have fights and broken relationships (cause Billy's looking at that Vampire girl) with of look of wanting to be bitten. Some will dress in very distastefull costumes, Somewhere theirs a guy that will dress as a tampon, and think he's the man!! All the pedophiles licking their lips as the prepare the candy bowl. Alas, the teenagers who should'nt be going trick or treating in the first place. If you stiif em, they'll damage your pumpkin, or your property. And last but not least " the kid with two bags" I'm trick or treating for my sick sister or brother...all the while he's just a selfish only child. Yea it'll be great, when it;s over. I know I aint the only one that hates this holiday.

Again people don't need a holiday to do anything of the things you mentioned.

Personally I find Labor Day weekend, Memorial Day weekend New Years to be the WORST for drunken idiots. Halloween is just fun. I guess I'm bias since I love Halloween, it's my favorite Holiday. I like the tradition of the real Halloween, Samhain. I like the meaning behind the real holiday and what it stands for. People don't realize that all the little things we do for Halloween have a meaning that has been lost but we still do it and don't know why but it's fun!

Hope you have a nice quiet evening on Halloween.

It was a rant. Glad you took it so serious, being all Grown up and all. Of all that replied to the RANT you by far were the most serious and the most nasty towards me. Can't wait till my Christmas RANT.......it will be epic. I do hope you had a great time tonight. I know I did, handed out some candy while I was visiting my sister.....Made sure all the lil trick or treaters with paper bags...got a nice ICE CUBE in their bag.....ten house's down and they wonder where all the treats went. ROTFL.....Yea, I hate Halloween and all that goes with it. Observation: Not a single person asked me WHY I dont like Halloween, not a single one...just bashed me for my RANT. Yea lets all DENY SOME IGNORANCE.

You are funny. Not one person asked you why you don't like Halloween - perhaps because you told everyone already. And wow your feelings get hurt when you RANT about an issue and people disagree with you. The fact that you are obviously mean spirited (ice cubes in a kids bag?) speaks for it self. You are angry at the world. Grow up. You are the guy who's house used to get egged. Hating Halloween? How self important of you. Please don't run for office.

I could care what your opinion is. I havnt gotten mad. I love watching ADULTS argue about a purely childrens holiday. I threw that ICE CUBE comment in to see how crazy you all would go. Can't egg my house, sits to far off the road you can't even see it. I assure you I want run for political office as I don't make lieing a part of every sentence that comes from my mouth.

Once upon a time six lil boys went a trick or treating, long story short. Only ( 4 came home). I was one of the four. In the ensuing days I went to a funeral, and several trips to hospital to see my best friend, who has never walked again because of that Halloween night. Car jumped curb and the rest is already told. I was 9 years old. I have hated Halloween since that night. So folks when one say's they hate something...ask why...because HATE is a damn strong word.
