NEWS: Porton Down Death: Unlawful Killing Says Jury

The Ronald Maddison inquest jury has today returned a verdict of "unlawful killing". The original inquest verdict was quashed by the Attorney General and a new inquest was ordered. During the inquest the jury heard how National Serviceman Ronald Maddison had died after undergoing a Sarin nerve agent experiment at CDEE Porton Down in May 1953. The evidence also showed that Porton scientists had ignored an order to stop the human experiments after Maddison's death. The UK Ministry of Defence are considering whether to make a legal challenge of the verdict.



This verdict will have repercussions throughout the military science community, in particular Dstl Porton Down. From now on , any scientist contemplating human experimentation will have to remember that any wrongdoing will be brought to book, even 50 years later.

As it should! What right do they have to play God with another person's life and health "in the name of science"? Persons in the armed forces have not volunteered to be scientific experimetation guinea pigs. Those who commit these atrocities should pay for the consequences of their decisions and actions.
