A couple of versions of All Along the Watchtower by Bob Dylan...
The Jimi Hendrix Experience..
While I wasn't born yet I am hard pressed to think of a version of a song that conjurers up a specific era more than this song ..
The next two versions are from Battlestar Galactica 2004 - 2009
The studio version to an important battle from the show:
The same version live , opening accompanied by Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck). While the sound isn't great on this version, it must have been great to
see:
Lisa Gerrard
More commonly known as the female half of Dead Can Dance, if you don't know who they are they are worth checking out and depending on the
style\scene you are in have achieved a rather legendary status. Anyone that has seen the movie The Mist has heard them in the crushing closing
sequence. Some folks may not even know they were listening to Lisa Gerrard though as her vocal abilities have been used in a huge number of movies.
The biggest are Gladiator, Whalerider, Black Hawk Down, The Insider , The Passion of the Christ, Mission Impossible II, Tears of the Sun, Priest and
various other films.
Queen with David Bowie and Annie Lennox doing Under Pressure at the Concert for Life..
I can't think of anyone that could have duplicated the stage presence of the great Freddy Mercury but on this version at this show, I feel Annie
Lennox comes close...
I think this qualifies as alternate but at a minimum, it qualifies as "trance" for old fogies like me. According to the Ebola care guide, old is
over 40 with a disease, like high blood pressure or someone who wears sweater vests with cargo shorts !
