Couldn't think of a better title.I started this thread to describe my experience in seeing a U.F.O back in my youth. This is the first time I tell anyone about what I saw and I'm still riddled with questions about it. Maybe someone here can give me an insight as to what is. So without further ado, here it is.

It happened back when I was maybe 12- 13 years old. This was back in 2002-2003. I remember it was a summer day, not cold but not very hot. The weather was cloudy, but not dark like it was going to rain. I was outside on our deck with my mom, our neighbor and her daughter just having a good laugh. We were sitting down at the table having tea with a few snacks. I remember seeing an object almost appearing out of nowhere, hovering about 500 meters away and 500 meters off the ground. It just hovered there, without a single noise just as if it was floating in the air. About 2 minutes of us watching it in disbelief, it literally zipped away to about 2-3 km away and even higher off the ground. It was almost instantaneous. I knew it wasn't man made because we had no aircraft that can move that fast! After about 2 minutes, it moved even further away, barely visible and just hanging below the cloud line. Again, it was instantaneous and after 2 minutes, disappears out of sight. The whole time we just stood there watching this object which lasted about 6-8 minutes. We were all in disbelief even after it ha left. To this day we still don't know what we saw, nor do we talk about it. This is what basically got me interested in astronomy and space.

The object in particular was a disc shaped object that peeked with a dome on top. It had 5 smaller half spheres on the bottom of the craft. The dome was a dark silver colour, couldn't see through it and the craft itself was silver as well, though not as dark. The object was not spinning nor were the half spheres on the bottom. It just floated there, no sound nothing.

Like I said, I don't know what it was. All I know is it wasn't man-made. Maybe someone here can enlighten me.

To be honest I have no idea what it was and as you say in the quote above neither do you so I don't think you can say that it wasn't man-made

As for the sighting did anyone else in your area report anything strange in the sky , have you checked online for newspaper reports or perhaps MUFON archives ? you don't give a location , date or time for the sighting we've got nothing to go on to try and corroborate you sighting .

Can MUFON really be taken seriously?? I can post any rubbish there, much like here, how is MUFON credible??

I can make multiple reports of an object in different locations to make it more believable, MUFON is just another cash cow for the gullible or dishonest to use.

I didn't say anything about their credibility but they are a repository for people to report their sightings , if there are other reports from people in the OPs area of the same thing he saw then takes us one step forward , perhaps their reports give us another piece of the puzzle to help identify what it was .

You may post rubbish there but I'm sure many others post their own genuine sightings .

Well, I would say you saw an alien spacecraft, my friend. Welcome to the world of UFOs.

The way you described it moving instantaneously from point A to point B is how they use the timelines to maneuver in our world... well, some of them.

I have seen UFOs all my life. Some take off at warp speed, and others zip around in the sky, as you described.

There will be more sightings by more people as time goes by.

Hang in there and don't let the ridicules from others get to you.
It seems to be a favorite pass-time for some members here to visit threads and "slam" other people's stories; no open mind at all.
Their day will come!!

Well, I would say you saw an alien spacecraft, my friend. Welcome to the world of UFOs.

And that's one of the big problems with the world of UFOs today , people making blanket statements based on little to no evidence .
Perception is a wonderful thing but it is also flawed , just because that's what the OP thinks he saw 10 years after the event doesn't necessarily mean the object moved in that way at the time , from a different vantage point it could of looked different .
Also memories of past events especially things that happened when you were a child are not set in stone and are liable to added upon over the years .... Hence why other witness reports would help identify the what ever it was the OP saw .

I agree, the more witnesses, the better for verifying what he saw. That's why I'm posting; I'm a witness to craft that have moved in this manner. May not have been the same one, but it moved as he described... appearing in one place, then another, without seeming to have moved through the air at all.

Thanks for sharing. At least friends/family witnessed it right along with you. My experience was a family sighting also. Even though we don't know what we saw, It's a comfort to have shared the experience.

I'm especially fascinated by sightings reported by children/young people. You were 12-13, my son was a rather sophisticated 16 yr. old. After very discreetly talking with rural neighbors, a mother of an 8 yr old boy told me about his excited rantings about lights while playing outside, it was the same night as our sighting. At the time she chalked it up to him being silly/playing a trick but after my inquiry she admitted it bothered her that he was so unusually upset/crying, he wouldn't talk about it. Her jaw literally dropped when I asked about "military" lights.

It's hard to believe most children's flights of fancy and the majority of children aren't listened to about most things, including claims of sexual abuse that are often proven later to be true. I tend to closely listen to/observe children to get at the truth and imo they can be an excellent source.

I'm also interested in people's immediate reactions. I was so stunned, shocked that I could do nothing but stutter and I don't stutter. It was dreamlike/frustrating to find myself unable to speak but I was enthralled/curious. I finally snapped out of It when I heard my 16 yr. old son break down and cry. He was my "rock" out here in the boonies. Just like the 8 yr. old boy my son's reaction wasn't typical to his nature and for that matter neither was mine as I'm never at a loss for words.

I did what any mother would do when their child feels threatened, I grabbed my kids/got to town asap. He stayed with a friend in town for a week. He's grown now, went off to college, lives/works in Denver but I can still sense his discomfort when talking about it.

I agree with the above poster, talk to neighbors. The hubby and I got two hits. Hindsight is 20/20. There's so many things we wished we'd done differently. I believe after something so strange happens we go into shock/adrenaline floods the system and we're often reduced to flight/fight or complete disbelief. Pics/vids don't matter, people simply won't believe it until they themselves witness something so over the top unusual.

My husband was out on a late night call and alerted me by phone about lights/strangeness. He's such a skeptic about everything, I'm especially grateful he experienced it too. Don't give up searching for answers but I seriously doubt we'll ever find any.

Instead of hijacking this members thread please post your rants in the appropriate forums.

This thread is being moved to "The Gray Area" as it is the right forum for personal experiences. These threads are moved there due a different standard of behavior being required in that forum. In other words to protect the person posting from being trolled and ridiculed. Any suggestion otherwise is untrue.

My, that's a high horse you're on

How's the view from up there?

I was simply offering an observation I have personally made about this forum. Does that somehow threaten you?

Honestly, I'm rather surprised this thread hasn't been moved yet. There is no "proof"

And no, don't go twisting my words into stating that I am saying this post is false. I am simply stating it in regards to my own experience here on ATS. Drawing attention to it. Pointing it out as what it was, silly

Ciao!

I apologize for being absent for a while, work went crazy so I had no time to respond. Regarding some members posts, yes I understand that this is 10 years and as kids our perceptions are different then what they are as adults. I did manage to walk around and ask neighbours about the experience. My responses were varied some saying they are new to the neighbour hood to some declining to answer at all. I did reconfirm with my mother and our next door neighbours what we saw and they all agree with me. As a child I was fascinated with military technology from aircraft to ships. I about watched every show and documentary about them and none of them moved at that speed or managed to hover. Remember this was a while ago.

I want to thank you all for your responses.
