Here's your modern day vamp hunter, OP.

A man in Australia has been arrested for the 2003 murder of Shane Chartres-Abbot, a male gigolo and self-professed vampire.

(Chartes-Abbot, truly a name worthy of a Ann Rice hero, or enterprising man-whore.)

Chartres-Abbot was shot dead outside his home in 2003 while standing trial for rape and assault. The 29-year-old, who worked as a gigolo, raped a woman who also worked in the sex industry at a hotel in 2002. During the vicious attack, he bit off part of her tongue.

She was found unconscious and covered in blood in the shower by staff. Chartres-Abbot told police he was a 200-year-old vampire who needed to drink blood to survive.

During the trial, his defence lawyer said someone else attacked her for warning Chartres-Abbot he was going to be killed in a snuff film. The victim's blood was found on his clothes and he was also found in possession of her phone.

He was shot dead on the day he was due to appear in court for the rape and assault trial.

Perry was the ex-boyfriend of the woman Chartres-Abbot attacked and it is thought he orchestrated the murder with the help of others - two other men are currently in prison for their part in the murder.

Yeah, no psychosexual element whatsoever.

I didn't realize there were super heroes left in the world. Where would we be without Captain America types saving the gullible from internettrolls??

Bless you.

You know, for someone who's already been bitten in the bum by the Renfield syndrome, and expresses embarrassment over the episode elsewhere, I'm surprised that you've succumbed so easily to a much less complex, far less fascinating gambit.

But, you know.

Is your lyfe, yo.

Riiiight, I can use google just as well as you can and that's old new and if you had read the article, you'd note, the person was taking vengeance due to rape. It doesn't make him a vampire hunter. The fact the person he killed was calling themselves a vampire was circumstantial and possibly not a vampire (but I do not know).

All the best trolls are the ones that disguise their trolling in a thinly veiled attempt to answer the topic, but it's not gone over kept head what you're doing. Doesn't ATS have rather firm rules against this?

You can only hunt something if you believe in it, I do respect the OP but also if someone posts here they must be ready to enter a lively conversion. If a person really believes in some thing then it becomes true for them, sadly often they do not understand how others cannot believe. This is how wars start, so i support a lively conversion but we must all show some respect. Sometimes all of us forget this

Well, the deceased certainly seemed to think he was a vampire.

ATS has a few firm rules. Calling out posers, though, is a spectator sport. Maybe you should take your act to GLP.

Hi mate, its cool i get what you mean, just seems the thread has gone astray somewhat. I'm quite curious as to the 'hunters' as well.

I too feel this tread has wondered off, can we try to get it back on tract

I don't believe this is true.
OP knows as much. But she and I are still perfectly capable of carrying on in a rational manner.

I neither believe, nor disbelieve. I tend to take that approach a lot.

And for the record, from what I have heard so far about these vampire hunters, they do sound very interesting.

Sounds like there are two separate groups of them. Investigator types, and soldier types.

There is organization to it. Odd for a group of folks chasing mythical beings.

What, precisely, do you think is untrue?

Which OP are you referring to?

If you profess disbelief, while diving headfirst into and defending a poisonous narrative, which are we to believe?

Which do you want to believe?

I have heard once before about supposed hunters, who only go after vampires who kill. I'm not going to test that notion but the. Today someone messages me with a very very similar statement independently. If it's true, that's, surprising and interesting. Seems a hard thing to keep tabs on, whether a vampire is naughty or nice. (Yes, a St. Nicholas joke)

And where, pray, have we have we encountered that trope elsewhere?

Oh yeah.

Effing everywhere.

Provide evidence, or stand as the latest example of failed weird fiction.

So have you had any knowledge of those who would claim to be 'hunters' or do you know of any people groups etc that research what for the masses is a mythological creature ?

Just to pull it back to the topic in hand you understand.

I don't believe she is a vampire and I don't care much one way or the other.

I find the vampire stories very interesting and I do not discount the POSSIBILITY they are real.
If they were real it would be cool. I'd like to figure out how to gain their strengths and none of their weaknesses. Genetic science could accomplish that.

And to be honest, I couldn't possibly care less what you think of my stance on any subject. I'm just glad I don't feel the need to fall in with the status quo and am willing to speak publicly about this

Really? A shark that looks like a human and uses other humans for sustensance? "Cool"?

Ah, sheesh. The new higher authority, Science. What if it turns out that there are interspecies predators, but the blood is just a medium for the chi. The life force. Whatever.

What if it's not just as simple as synthesizing hemoglobin.

I'm only entertaining the extremely remote possibility, because it seems the most likely fictional scenario, given what we know about energy exchange and subtle bodies.

But even given that: ew.

And to be honest, I couldn't possibly care less what you think of my stance on any subject. I'm just glad I don't feel the need to fall in with the status quo and am willing to speak publicly about this.

It's funny how escaping the status quo ends up looking a lot like wanting to belong.

I'm with you on this one mate, my own thoughts on the personal beliefs of the OP are irrelevant given the topic is about 'hunters' and researchers. I'm not sure why you are being challenged on your own stance as to be honest it's no ones bloomin' business.

Curious why some find the need to provoke rather than contribute....their loss.

I believe the blood drinking bit would be considered a weakness. But I digress, we are straying off topic.

Who was the poster that was claiming knowledge of a group of vampire hunters? I would like to hear more from that guy.

I dug a lot, and the man-ho hit was the closest thing I could find to a true-life incident.

But there're still some LARPer communities out there who want to don capes and pretend to eat other people and escape from the fear of mortality.

That was a bizarre one mate, just shows how dark and complex a society's sub-culture can be. Also a perfect story for the tabloids to create a lurid sexual intrigue for their readers.
