you are welcome to believe whatever you want, but it would be wrong not to trust me as i dont lie. but i do not intend to go out my way to look like a fool just to prove that fact to you

I don't believe you're a liar, just naive.

myself, im extremely happy about it, since nationalism is one of the worst things in the world!
i would love nothing more than a nationless and borderless world.

but thats my utopia, its obviously not yours, and hey, thats ok!

All makes sense now, it's not a language barrier, it's a fundamental ideological difference. While I agree nationalism can be dangerous, I vehemently oppose a borderless, nationless world. I don't want to live in homogeny, perhaps that is why I see meaning in a flag, while you don't. You say you care for your county, yet wish it to be dissolved into a global melting pot, those two thoughts cohabiting together in your skull at the same time is a symptom of "doublethink".

Question, does it piss you off to see a McDonalds (or any other Western franchise) occupying a historic building in your town? Again, honest question.

People are acting ridiculous about all of this - let alone politicians.

The red versus blue vitriol is the worst I've ever seen - to the point of being down right scary.

Sometimes I think they all WANT the general populace to over-react or revolt.

It's like everything is frothing up and hardening - like a vortex it is getting increasingly difficult to not get sucked into the rabble of it all.

I think you're right.. I feel that they want a revolt as well. My theory is that well.. how are they going to put our soldiers to work here at home unless they put them in/to our own streets?

Several years ago people who spoke of a revolution or our Gov't. in a derogatory fashion were generally considered paranoid (nutters), and then a couple years later most were considered "awake" if they were aware of circumstances happening within our Gov't. . But now, now I'm starting to see some comments that lead to the search for answers.

It comforts me to see the wave of change, but I do hope that we keep our heads and don't become violent, because as some posters have commented, I feel that's exactly what 'they' are hoping for. Who knows what could start a revolt it could be one small action leading to a domino affect. Isn't that what happened once before? I just hope that 'we' (the people) are on the side of righteous dignity.

Was driving on the freeway (CA-1?) and saw a tall, tall crane....

it had the flag upside down, hanging off the hook but tied around it.

I was worried what if the flag detaches, lands on someone windshield... major pileup!

A metaphor for what America is building up to?

You better post that on facebook. "The people" still aren't "getting it".

Can i be honest? "The people" should have known something was wrong, when Barack Obama became president. How did they miss that? What do i mean? Well, on 911, we were told that the Muslims hated us for our "freedom" and that Osama....oh wait...

Obama>Osama....Obamaaaaa>Osamaaaaa

Get the point?

BTW....where is George Dubya? He got some splainin' to do! hahahhaha

That's why they are the "elite" and we are the "sheep". Baaaaaaah

"They hate us for our freedom" is the greatest lie of the modern era. It is so blatantly false, fails every test of logic, yet is so widely accepted that one is ridiculed for daring to question such an obscene motive.

They hate us for our freedoms. Absurd.

While I may agree with the concept of an upside down flag, it has zero business cluttering up the front page of any site because IT ISN'T A BIG DEAL.

For years people have been discussing the issues surrounding our Gov't., and their miscarriage(s) of justice. People talked endlessly of the wrong-doings going on up on the Hill. Discussion is good and the OP has opened another conversation on the subject.. but more than that, he took an action. It may seem a small action to you, but it is an action nevertheless. Instead of complaining why not start a thread of your own---whhhaaattt!

Why would you criticize an action that obviously means something to the OP and many others in this thread who have chosen to take the same action in support of the OP, and because it's something--something they can do. How is this action hurting you, and if it's not a big deal (in your opinion), why bother commenting after the first time..Your point was noted, so why must you continue. If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem.

Bottom line is we ARE in danger....
In danger from OUR OWN GOVT

And this is the reason ya'll have your guns right?

So i'm always told. It's to stop your tyrannical government from doing just this to ordinary people.
Then again, I always knew that was a bs reason to have guns.
All you patriotic, responsible gun owners. Who've posted in all of the pro-gun threads should pick up your pieces and defend the nation from the tyranny of the oppressive gov.

It's what you always say and the excuse given for an armed population.

Just because you're armed doesn't mean you can't participate in passive resistance. Not every fight requires a gun, once you realize that maybe you too can become responsible enough to own a firearm!

ETA: Your words.

Because most Americans are brainwashed patriotic, nationalistic dumbasses who chant USA USA at any given opportunity.

I only got 2 "likes", however those "likes" were from the only two vets I am friends with on facebook!! To me those "likes" meant more than if I would have gotten 20 from non-vets... just sayin'!

Edit: HOLY CRAP!!!! 14 pages and 100+ flags... WOWWZA, this thread has really grown since my departure!!! Way to go Homer!!!!!! *thumbs up* my man!!! I'm so proud of what you did, shared and inspired I could just spit!!!!!

I have 3 flags at work, all upside down; one in car, also upside down. We are a nation in distress.

This is the most incompetent bunch of people 'leading' this country that I have ever seen in my almost 64 years. They apparently think the majority of people are just plain stupid.

I miss my Daddy, but I am so glad he is not here to see what has happened to the country he fought for. I'm glad he's not here to see how the Veterans were treated at the war memorials.

Odd thing? Those that should be shutdown are the ones causing all of the problems!

I am in Australia, and I heard on the radio on my way home, 'An outrage in the amount of american flags being flown upside down.' didn't catch full story winging kid...

mentioning something like is this a call for distress has the governemnt gone to far.

But good to see this getting someone I feel for everyone in America at the moment, and wish you all well.

its not doublethink.. I like my country because I grew up here, its nice and free, we dont have government police state where they grab you off the road and put hands up your butt.
its not illegal to desecrate flag etc. we dont have any such redicolous laws.
so yes, there are multiple reasons i love my country!
it is where i was born! but at the same time, i would love for the world to be an open world . but just like anarchy, obviously its just ideology i dont see it ever happen. but it would be nice to go wherever u want without cops, military and need for passports.

second question, i dont care one bit about macdonalds and where they set up shop
secondly if the building is historic enough its gonna be owned by the city, and no private owned commerce would be allowed there since to preserve its historic status. such as a castle or a museum.
mcdonalds could only set up shop if there was a commercial space to rent. its not like they can do whatever they want and set up shop anywhere they choose

I suggest that Americans (and others) read up on what their flag really represents.

www.freerepublic.com...

Patriots are subjected to much ridicule when they object to [Admiralty flag] the flag that appears in every government office and courtroom in the land. That flag is the United States flag... with one seemingly minor cosmetic difference - a knotted golden fringe on three sides.

Government officials and judges adamantly refuse requests to remove the gold fringed flag and replace it with the constitutional flag of the United States as defined in 4 U.S.C. Section 1,2, and 3 - which has NO fringe.

Why should anyone be concerned about this apparently innocent decorative feature? What difference does it make?

The difference is that the flag that is displayed is legal notice, to all who enter, of the type of law that holds jurisdiction. The constitutional United States flag signifies common law jurisdiction.

The gold fringed United States flag is the Admiralty or War flag which denotes Admiralty or martial law.

Wow, I'm not the only one doing this, finding that a ton of people are doing this in response to the government shutdown.
Seems to me a lot of people are FINALLY waking up and seeing we ARE in EXTREME DANGER from our OWN govt.

You meant "star and upside down flag" right?

I don't have a light on my flag at the house, so I had to take it down last night. Fear not though, I put it back up before I came to work.

Thanks again Homer!
