Congrats on the accurate prediction, it's almost as if you were aware that opinion polls do not accurately reflect the truth of a situation.

Thanks but no, actually I just predicted what the results of this particular poll would be.

Do you discount this poll as flawed? Perhaps they only called registered republican's and libertarians, is that you're opinion?

Do you really believe the paid for Organization for Action - obamanots aren't paid to vote in every kind of poll out there - that's what they do - that's what they are paid for - they are paid to join blog spots and spout their pro-communism views - and still they come out on the down side of every poll........

I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. It's not hidden - it's even on the MSM.

Not quite my friend. I have no opinion about the legitimacy of the polling process, wether or not the results of this specific poll are biased, or the bi-partisan nature of the website conducting the poll. My problem is with the wording of the title, "to blame" implies a factual responsibility. I don't believe popular opinion is an accurate measure of factual correctness. I do believe it is incredibly dangerous for a society to portray opinions as facts and I'm dismayed at how readily accepted this is in modern culture.

Polls are always funny and I mean that literally. I read one recently on one of the UK sites (Guardian/Telegraph don't remember) where they asked whether the Brits wanted their guns back. I swear half the respondent's were from the US. LMAO.

I don't have a lot of faith in polls either but the resulting responses of most polls are usually pretty easy to predict.

I'll admit honestly this one made me grin. Would I bet the farm on it? Probably not but in all fairness Obama, Harry Reid and the Senate piss me off. And don't even ask me about the House of Representatives.

Even obama's base is turning on him - not even MSNBC can turn his edicts into "happy unicorn rainbow" lies anymore.

This is about the destruction of america - and those that have seen this coming from this administration since the beginning have a better chance of surviving this armageddon of the communist agenda.

Times are going to get very rough - due to the communist in charge.

Organization for Action is a gigantic ultra Left Wing NGO.

100% for the agenda..

Organizing for Action (OFA) is a nonprofit social welfare organization and community organizing project in the United States which advocates for the agenda of U.S. President Barack Obama.[1][2] The organization is officially non-partisan,[2] but its agenda and policies are strongly allied with the Democratic Party of which Obama is a member. It is the successor of Obama's 2012 re-election campaign and of Organizing for America, which itself succeeded Obama's 2008 campaign.[3]

Founded after President Obama's re-election, the group seeks to mobilize supporters in favor of Obama's legislative priorities. OFA is registered as a 501(c)(4) organization,[4] which may advocate for legislation but is prohibited from specifically supporting political candidates.[5] OFA is organized as a grassroots organization, with local chapters that decide which issues to organize around.

OfA

Surprisingly though, their website comment area has lots of negativity lately !!!!!

I guess they can't even pay the cleaning fees LOL

Welcome to Organizing for Action

Here's one *comment*

A Major Hoax, referred to in Neo-Tech as Neocheating, has been in operation all over the world for thousands of years. Everybody's been thoroughly Brainwashed. The information I put out is Deprogramming. This is Very Important.
The so-called "Federal government" is not only Bankrupt, & Head- Over- Heels in
Debt, It's Operating Way In The Red, & Has A Huge, & Increasing, Budget Deficit. There's virtually zero $ for anything whatsoever. Various Famous Economists, such as Professor Laurence Kotlikoff of Boston University, claim that what they call the "National Debt" is actually about $228 Trillion, & going up about $1 Trillion a month
Stop referring to the politicians Deliberately Increasing their Debts, Deficits, etc., as their "Reducing" or "Controlling" or "Slashing", etc., them, "Balancing the Budgets, etc.
"Debating" so-called "Gay marriage" doesn't make sense. "Gay marriage" doesn't exist. "Debating" so-called "Gun control" doesn't make sense. "Gun control", basically speaking, is Unconstitutional, under the 2nd Amendment.
"Debating" so-called "Illegal immigrants" doesn't make sense. People who walk into a Free Country, like this one, without Documents, Permission, etc., don't somehow become "Illegal, Criminal, Immigrants".

Why can't I find any information on this organization? I was hoping for better transparency.

There's more like that

Round objects. Online polls can be manipulated with clickbots quite easily. All the recent polls blame Boehner and his lack of a spine.

You are citing NEWSMAX.... have you bothered to check out their bias and leaning and allegiances? It's a right wing conservative source.... what kind of poll would you EXPECT from this source? Check out who owns it, previous headlines, and other "polls" they perform...... hardly an unbiased, scientific poll of a large number of people from across all types of citizens. The results are just what I would expect from this source, not from reality.

Newsmax is a conservative news site...

Were you expecting a different result?

Not to mention you have to sign up to get the results. Not many people are willing to give out any info just for a poll.

Here is another conservative site that has run polls also but got different results.

New Poll: Only One-Third Of Americans Support Repealing, Defunding Or Delaying Obamacare

Polls consistently show that Americans aren’t happy with Obamacare. They think the law will make health care more expensive, and decrease its quality. But a new survey of 1,976 registered voters finds that only 33 percent believe that the health law should be repealed, delayed, or defunded. 29 percent believe that “Congress should make changes to improve the law,” 26 percent believe that “Congress should let the law take effect” and see what happens, and 12 percent believe that the law should be expanded. The bottom line? Voters are skeptical that Obamacare will live up to Democrats’ hype. But they also believe that it should be given a chance to succeed.

Voters would blame “Republicans in Congress if the current budget dispute leads to a government shutdown starting October 1.” 51 percent would blame them “a lot,” 21 percent “some,” and 17 percent “a little.” Only 12 percent would assign no blame to Republicans. But voters would also blame President Obama for a shutdown, albeit by slimmer margins: 41 percent “a lot,” 15 percent “some,” and 18 percent “a little.” For Congressional Democrats, the numbers were 36 percent “a lot,” 24 percent “some,” and 23 percent “a little.”

Either way, what the public wants above all else is for Republicans to propose legislation that will make the health care system better.

And what alternative solution has the Republicans come up with? NOTHING

Internet polls are not scientific polls.

Newsmax is a conservative website...are you really that surprised that the results are skewed to favor Republicans?

This is desperation at it's finest. When people use internet polls to try to counter national scientifically conducted polls...it is because they are desperate to confirm their own opinion.

Even when they are scientifically designed opinion polls aren't so representative. It is well known that they are psychologically impactful so to believe politicians dont use them for their own gains is a mistake - who backs the scientifically designed ones? Who funds them? Whose interest do these polls have at heart at any given time?

All poll needs to be examined for the way questions are worded, how they are asked, who funded it, actual sample size, etc. If the proposed elected sees 1200 people support them but 800 do not they know this will sway future opinion - sad for us/good for them. They are another tool that can easily be used and abused - especially when they get strong media coverage.

I did a poll once and the lady on the other end of the phone got excited when I would answer a certain way. It was abundantly clear it was more than just being friendly - was reinforcement for her bias. I thought about it afterwords and who knows how things are actually written down on the other end - must count on integrity. Maybe they do them via computer today but if not - that really must be taken into account along with everything else. In the end these things inform on people's decision making process whether causing them to alter initial beliefs or leading them to give up on the power of their own voice. To think they aren't manipulated - all of them, is to believe everyone is honest and innocent of manipulation.

The people are waking up to the truth.
80% of voters supported the government shutdown in order to defund Obamacare.

No, keep the government running, even if it means Obamacare is funded 16,425(20%)

Do you support a one-year delay for the 'individual mandate' in Obamacare?
Yes, delay it for one year20,408(25%)

No, implement the full law now 13,959(17%)

Obamacare and all its provisions should be repealed 47,101(57%)

Who do you hold most responsible for the federal government shutdown?
President Barack Obama 55,999(68%)

Congressional Republicans 14,676(18%)

Congressional Democrats 10,832(13%)

www.newsmax.com...

I am a veteran and an independent. I say that because most veterans are different than other voter's. First, they have earned their right to complain, but peculiarly many stand behind presidents no matter who they are or what party they are in.

I did not vote for Obama, but once he won i lined up and stood with him. If you have not served you won't understand this.

As an independent i wish I could vote out all the people from my state who voted for this shutdown. Oh, snap that happens to be only republicans.

The Republicans and the fanatics, tea party wing, started and is responsible for this shutdown.

No one else is responsible and I find it sick and pathetic. The economy has been making slow progress and now they are going to send us backwards again. People have such a short memory, eight years of bush put us into worst recession and on verge of depression. Things were not good, this is what take care of the wealthy republicans care about. They would rather send us into further recession. It is there fault we are here in the first place.

I think we need a true independent third party, the 99% party. If you took enough seats you could then force these two dinosaurs sit down and talk and compromise. That will solve the problem, that and make it so they can only serve two terms, that is more than enough. Do this and it should stop some of the corruption and bought votes.

I speak common sense solutions, in the end there is always revolution.

Yep, America, it's time you formed your version of UKIP and put them into power.

Although it doesn't directly affect me I find this all depressing. Obamacare will help save some lives and...well a whole bunch of people don't want it to exist, that's so sad.

At least let it try and run some of its course before destroying it, tearing it down before it's even given a chance is just... well, about the millionth reason why I hate American politics.

Elysium plot or what!! Democrats are the Jodie Foster.

I don't think I would be bragging about that around here, your kind responsible for allot of misery. You got fat in the bush years at the expense of millions and you want to talk to us about how much you are going to lose if the debt ceiling is not raised. Lol

Give me a break and go back to your cushy house driving your Mercedes and do us a favor and not tell us what we already know.

Try using some of that clout your money is supposed to be buying and get these republicans to get control of their party and stop this shutdown already.

So your source for Democrats being to blame for the shutdown is an opinion poll (opinion being the operative word here) from a self-admittedly conservative website? www.newsmax.com...

If you want to figure out whos to blame, figuring out the purpose behind the government shutdown would be a good start.

I know this isn't relevant to the subject at hand, but is it really too much for people to look up the definitions of words before using them? It kind of goes against the website's motto when you call someone a communist when it's pretty clear that they aren't.

Spot on, while you're looking up 'communist' have a peek at 'blame'. As if facts weren't easy enough to manipulate, US political theatre has perfected the art of using opinions to manipulate opinions. These polls that seem to be so revered are just absolute nonsense, complete drivel.
